- 1 1/2 ounces bourbon whiskey
- 1 1/2 ounces apple liqueur
- 2 1/2 ounces apple cider
- 1-2 tablespoons of maple persimmon simple syrup (listed below)
- Persimmon slices
- Ice
Into a cocktail shaker add ice, whiskey, apple liqueur, apple cider, and maple persimmon syrup.
Secure the cocktail shaker lid and give it a good go for 30 seconds.
Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with a thin slice of persimmon.
Serve.
Homemade Maple Persimmon Syrup.
The recipe is so easy, in a saucepan over medium-low heat add a cup of water and a single cup of light brown sugar.
Keep stirring; the mixture will be cloudy, but after 2-3 minutes, the mixture will no longer be cloudy.
Add 4-5 thinly sliced persimmons and 1/8 tsp of ground cardamom, and stir.
Allow the mixture to come to a low boil, then remove from the heat.
Add 2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup and place a tight-fitting lid onto the saucepan.
Let the homemade maple persimmon syrup steep for 15 minutes.
Pour the mixture into a sterile Mason-style jar and make sure the lid is tightened.
Homemade simple syrup will keep in the fridge for up to a month.
