Halloween Witch’s Broomstick Treat Idea
Have fun this Halloween bytaking it lightly.
The kids and party guests will love this easy snack that only takes a few minutes of your time and ingredients!
Plus, you can use the pretzels from the Pretzel Bones treat to help create this easy look.
And check this out; even Frank gave us a hand in helping us create this fun Halloween treat!
I am a busy Mom to three boys. I don’t have time to pour much time and creativity into the treats.
However, I want that look that I had some creativity instead of picking up a box of cookies from the store.
So this Halloween recipe for Reese’s Witch’s Brooms gives me creativity, ease, and a BIG time saver!
What You Need
- Pretzel Sticks
- Reese’s
- Candy Melts
What I love about this no-bake Halloween treat is you literally need three ingredients.
Use this recipe on a Hocus Pocus board.
Can I Use Gluten-Free Pretzels?
Absolutely! If you want to serve up to a gluten-free family or guests, go right ahead and reach for a gluten-free pretzel stick to replace the classic!
The rest of the ingredients are gluten-free.
Why Do You Use Candy Melts?
Using candy melts is the key to getting your pretzels to stick properly to the peanut butter cups.
Without it, you will find you smash and break up your chocolate, and it makes a mess. Candy melts set up really fast, so they will help be the edible “glue” in this recipe. So don’t skip the candy melts.
Or you can take regular chocolate and add a teaspoon of shortening when you melt to help give it the hardening effect you want.
Another option instead of using candy melts is decorative frosting or gel.
When we made these witches’ broomsticks again, we used Betty Crocker’s decorative gel instead of candy melts.
Storing Witch’s Brooms
You will want to store these in an airtight container to prevent the pretzels from going stale.
You can make them a day or two in advance and store them at room temperature.
Or, if you feel it is too hot in your home, then place it in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Get creative and try different types of peanut butter cups.
I know Justin’s is a very popular brand, or you may prefer even a white chocolate peanut butter cup.
Don’t feel locked in; get creative with what you use, or do a mix.
Ingredients
- 20 Reese’s Miniatures
- 20 Pretzel Sticks
- 1/4 cup Candy Melting Chips (Red) – you can also use a decorative gel
How to make Witch’s Brooms with Reese’s Candy
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt fall-colored candy by heating in the microwave for 45 seconds, stirring, and repeating until melted and smooth.
- Flip Reese’s candy over and place them on the baking sheet.
- Drop a small amount of the melted candy onto the bottom of each Reese’s candy. (It may be helpful to use a piping bag and fill it with the melted candy, then squirt a little bit on each candy.)
- Dip 1/4″ of a pretzel stick into melted candy on the bottom of Reese’s cup. Make sure the pretzel stick is standing straight.
- Place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to set up.
Alternative: If you’re going to use decorative gel instead of candy melts, place a small squeeze of red gel on top of Reese’s candy.
Then insert a pretzel stick into the decorative gel and place it on the pan.

What do you use to make the hole to put the pretzel in? I keep breaking the chocolate on top trying to cut a hole to insert pretzel.

I may have discovered the trouble. I am using Trader Joes mini peanut butter cups – dark chocolate. I assume dark chocolate will be much more firm than milk – thus causing a little trouble breaking through without cracking the pb cup.

Oh, that’s a great point Kris. I didn’t think about another brand of chocolate not working!
