Weekend getaways are some of our favorite ways to connect as a couple, and they are perfect for exploring local attractions in our state. Knowing What To Pack For A Weekend Getaway will help make the time together easier, more fun and of course helps you be prepared for anything. Some weekend getaway destinations can have fluctuating weather in Spring and Winter, and our post about how to pack for transition weather will help with that, but this post is here to help you know how to grab a bag and go with ease.
What To Pack For A Weekend Getaway
Multi-purpose layers. Things like cardigans, scarves and leggings are perfect for weekend getaways. Not only can they be added or taken off easily as weather changes, they are small and compact for tossing into your simple weekend duffel bag. Solid colored simple cardigans and leggings can mix and match with your tunic shirts, dresses and even favorite long tees.
Comfortable shoes. Weekends away mean you don’t want to pack a ton of stuff, but you still want to look cute. The solution to comfortable shoes is to grab some cute flirty but comfy sandals for warmer months, and a great pair of boots for winter months. You can add a simple set of inserts into your shoes for added comfort. While you may want to wear that super tall pair of stiletto’s, think about the pain involved and opt for classy yet comfortable shoes instead. Trust me, nobody wants to go out looking great, but have to leave the dance floor early because your feet are killing you.
Scarf, Hat or Headband for your hair. Weekends away shouldn’t be spent in the bathroom dealing with your hair. Make sure to pack a scarf, turban, hat or headband to help calm slightly wild or dirty hair. Wash and go styles are great, but for those who need to spend more time on their hair, plan to go without the daily fussing and use some simple styles or covers to rock your look without taking an hour away to straighten, curl or deal with your hair.
Versatile accessories. Looking cute doesn’t mean you have to bring your entire jewelry box. Create a look with some basic accessories that have pops of color and mix and match easily with your weekend wardrobe. Simple silver, cold or black pieces are great. Hook your earrings through a piece of cardboard and toss into your luggage so you can have a few options with color to bring things together.
Minimal makeup. Go for a quick foundation, blush, mascara and lip gloss that can be thrown on in a hurry and adds just enough pop to your face to feel pulled together without hours of contouring involved.
Your essential oils. Yes, we don’t leave home without them now. No matter where you are going or for how long, a basic essential oil kit will help you to relax, ease tension headaches and sleep well. Peppermint, Ginger, Lavender and Tea Tree Oil are must for pain relief, anti-nausea from motion sickness and help with sleep and killing germs. We also love taking along our Clarity and Thieves blends when we travel. Essential oils are great for helping you rest better in a strange place, but also nice for aromatherapy to set the mood for a romantic evening in.
When you ask yourself what to pack for a weekend getaway, remember that it is all about being versatile and relaxed. Weekend getaways are meant to help you connect with your family and your community. Dressing up and going to events is great, but you can also do so with a minimalist approach that leaves you looking and feeling radiant.
