How to make Valentines Hot Chocolate Bombs
servings: 6 (3” bombs)
- Melt the white chocolate bark according to the package directions.
- Add 2-3 tablespoons of melted white chocolate to each hole in the heart-shaped mold. Use a spoon or culinary brush to ensure the chocolate covers both sides evenly and thoroughly.
- Place the chocolate in the fridge until it has hardened completely– about 5 minutes.
- Remove the chocolate shells from the mold and fill one side with two tablespoons of hot chocolate powder and as many marshmallows as you would like (and will fit).
- Place a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Place the rim of an unfilled shell on the plan for 3-5 seconds or until the edge starts to soften.
- Gently push the two shells together to seal. Place the sealed bomb back in the fridge to set for five minutes.
- (Optional) Drizzle over the additional melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles, if desired.
- To serve, add one hot chocolate bomb to a large mug. Pour over the hot milk and stir until the bomb has opened and the powder has dissolved. Serve immediately.
Storing Hot Chocolate Bombs
These heart-shaped hot chocolate bombs will store for up to two weeks in an airtight container.
Make sure these hot cocoa bombs don’t get too hot and melt the chocolate.
If you need to, you can store it in the fridge to prevent melting. You can also freeze some of your bombs if you don’t plan to use them right away.
Then place them on the counter to thaw fully before you pour milk over them. If the chocolate is frozen, it will not melt the way you expect.
Recipe Notes:
It will take about 20ish minutes to prepare this hot cocoa bomb recipe. It’s recommended to use superfine sugar since it melts more quickly than granulated sugar.
If you don’t have granulated sugar, you can use powdered sugar.
Powdered milk is optional in this recipe, but it helps add a nice creaminess to the hot chocolate.
I also recommend using chocolate bark because it doesn’t require tempering. It melts quickly and stays smooth.
