What is it like walking the red carpet in Hollywood? I share my experience of walking the red carpet for the Thor Ragnarok Movie Premiere down below, plus awesome pictures from the event!
I Walked The Thor Ragnarok Red Carpet Premiere; here’s what I experienced!
Sometimes in life, we all have incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We check off that international bucket list vacation, check off swimming with the dolphins, meeting your favorite basketball player, and so on.
I have many things on my bucket list, and last week I was able to check this one off the list.
I recently shared with Y’all of my excitement about going to the Thor Ragnarok Premiere in California. One, I LOVE going to Cali. It’s my second home, filled with great memories and friends who have become part of my inner circle.
Second, I was going to the premiere of Thor Ragnarok. When I thought of all of the eye-candy (cough Idris Elba) in this sequel, it was hard to hold it together for a few weeks. However, I did. Well, I think I did.
I stressed about not falling on the Red Carpet. I stressed about the dress I ordered not being here in time. And the black, fitted dress I ordered did not come in time, but thankfully I was able to find a back-up.
California Love
I arrived in California on a gorgeous, sunny Monday. After spending a day at Disneyland, then another day of meeting the Executive Producer of Vampirina, some of the cast of The Mayor, and learning about littlebits and their partnership with Disney (which I am going to tell you guys all about in the next few weeks), it was time to get ready for the premiere.
Oh my, you could feel the excitement in the air as 24 bloggers, plus myself rushed to our hotel rooms to get ready. You could hear snippets of different conversations, “I need some spray.” “I need someone to zip up my dress!” “Oh, I can’t wait to see Chris!” And on and on the buzz of excitement was rushing through all of us.
After a few hours of preparing for our debut on the Red Carpet, we were finally on our way to the El Captain Theater.
In my head, I wondered what other actors would be there? Would my main squeeze, Idris Elba show up? “Tat, don’t trip and fall!”
California, knows how to party
After what seemed like forever, #thanksLAtraffic we arrived! We were told to get a Red Carpet photo buddy. I teamed up with the fabulous Latoyia, from The Motivated Mom was my buddy. And she is fabulous y’all, go check her out! We were given instructions on what we could do, what to pay attention to, where to stand, and what not to do. Both Latoyia and I were newbs to the Red Carpet events, so we also teamed up with sweet and wonderful Joyce (Woman and Their Pretties) and Tessa (Mama’s Geeky)! They were gracious enough to take us under their wings and help pop our Red Carpet cherries.
After going through security, we were ushered around the corner, and onto the Red Carpet. They warned us it would go fast. They told us it was going to seem like a blur in a matter of minutes. And it was just that.
In the city of L.A.; Red Carpet Feels
My eyes and ears were trying to take it all in while walking. Yeah, that’s kinda hard! {lol} If you’ve watched the Red Carpet events on T.V., it seems like it is a long, continuous red carpet.
It’s not as long as it looks on T.V., and it was a totally different experience witnessing first-hand.
There were two red carpets. They had one red carpet specifically for celebs, and anyone who was someone. Then there was another red carpet right next to it for everyone else going to the premiere. As we walked, slowly down the second red carpet, we stopped along the way to take photos by huge posters of different characters from the movie. We did this, all while keeping our eyes and ears out of who was showing up on the main red carpet.
The celebs walking the main red carpet were stopping along the way to give short interviews to media, taking photos, and even a few people in our group were able to snap photos with some of them.
“Loki” cleans up pretty nice!
The press pool was to the left of the red carpet, while we were on the other side of the red carpet. Seeing Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) in person, was like, “OH, MY GOSH!”
I’m not one to swoon over celebs, but it was a thrilling feeling to see them in person.
After we made our way down the red carpet, we handed over our phones and went into the theater.
We kept it rocking!
Let me say this, seeing a premiere at the El Captain Theater was an experience within itself. AND, watching Thor Ragnarok for the FIRST time WITH the cast, was another exciting moment! I mean, not too many people can say they got to watch Thor Ragnarok with Thor! Am I right?!
The cast and the directors were brought on stage and shared a few tidbits before taking their seats. They were escorted right down the stairs, many of them walking past myself and all of my “friends from work!”
Jeff Goldblum looked right at me and said hello! By the way, he is fantastic in this movie, which I’ll share with you guys on Thursday!
Another cool moment I want to highlight about this premiere experience is watching the screening with the cast. Each time a new character came onscreen, a round of applause went up for them! And I’m sure it was great for the cast, crew, director, and producers to hear all of the positive feedback about the movie from the audience. We laughed, gasped, and laughed some more.
After the screening, we made our way to collect our phones and back to our shuttle. On the way out, I saw Miley Cyrus and her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. It was pretty cool to mingle with a variety of celebs for the evening.
On our way to the shuttle, we stopped for a group photo on the same stairs where the Oscar takes place.
That wild, wild west; to sum it all up
After crashing onto my hotel bed that evening, it took me a while to settle down. My head and heart were racing from such a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I tried to recap in my head how fast it went. They were right, it was a rush. But a good rush!
And although Idris was missing in action, the overall Red Carpet experience was not disappointing. I can’t imagine the planning and organization that goes into putting on this type of event, but everything was perfectly executed.
The Thor Ragnarok experience goes into my little book as one I will never forget. I don’t know why I was so nervous about it since everything went fine. I learned a few tips and tricks I will use if I have the opportunity to do it again!
Plan to see Thor Ragnarok when it opens in theaters November 3rd, 2017.
Thank you, Disney for hosting me on this all-expense paid press trip to the #ThorRagnarokEvent and other Disney press events. However, you will always be reading 100% of my own thoughts, squeals, and opinions!
