There are no two ways about it; once you get a taste of red velvet cake, there’s no turning back. You’ll want it, you will crave, and that’s just the way it is.
Because there’s something unique about a perfectly prepared red velvet cake. It just grabs ahold of your taste buds, and the rest is the best kind of foodie love story.
Red Velvet fans, be sure to grab the recipe for Red Velvet Cocktail. And if you’re familiar with the Black Panther line, “Hey Auntie,” we made a red velvet + Hennessey cocktail to celebrate the movie.
A red velvet cake is red, but it tastes like milk chocolate.
So, to pull off a red velvet cake cocktail, the trick was to create the flavor of a red velvet cake in a drinkable form.
I kept the ingredients list to a minimum, but carefully selected ingredients I knew could get the job done. I made several versions until I finally came up with a winning combination that is incredibly toothsome. So, if you love red velvet cake, this cocktail is for you.
Pro-tip: You can use Red Velvet Baileys liqueur to achieve a drinkable form as well.
Yup. I created a cocktail that is as good as a red velvet cake but minus the crumbs. This recipe gets a bit of a kick from the bourbon cream liqueur, creaminess from the Baileys Irish cream and half & half, and a rich chocolate flavor from the crème de cacao liqueur and hot cocoa mix, and of course, the red coloring of this drink is obtained by adding a little from red food color.
What You’ll Need To Make This Red Velvet Baileys Cocktail:
Irish Cream. Irish cream gives this cocktail its creaminess. I prefer Baileys Irish Cream but use whatever Irish cream you prefer. You can also use Red Velvet Baileys.
Bourbon Cream Liqueur. There’s something about bourbon cream liqueur in this cocktail, and in this 100% irresistible cocktail, it takes the taste to the stratosphere.
Crème de Cacao. This clear liqueur adds rich chocolate without adding a lot of sweetness, make sure you don’t use chocolate liqueur, which is a lot sweeter than Crème de Cacao.
Hot Cocoa Mix. This ingredient is a must if you want to get the signature chocolate flavor of a red velvet cake, adding the Crème de Cacao and the hot cocoa mix is the way to go.
Fat-Free Half & Half. To keep the calorie count down, I used fat-free half & half; this ingredient adds a rich creaminess and smooth texture.
Red Food Coloring. Adding red food coloring is the key ingredient when it comes to making a red velvet cake, and it’s just as crucial in this yummy cocktail creation.
