Pastel Easter Tablescape Idea | Create An Easter Dessert In Minutes
Easter is just around the corner, which means it’s time to celebrate.
Here in the Worthey household, we don’t need a “reason” to celebrate, but the holidays give us the excuse to go all out!
Easter may have an important resurrection meaning, but it also means spending time with our family and celebrating with food.
While we fuss over the Easter ham, side dishes, and what Easter drink to serve, sometimes the dessert gets overlooked.
When it comes to entertaining, I’m always looking for ways to save time.
And here’s one way that I recently discovered: hacking a cake. But not just any cake. We’re trying a new dessert for Easter this year. It’s an ice cream cake.
Now, I’ve had ice cream cakes before, but I never thought to hack it and turn it into a themed cake with little effort.
I stopped by Walmart and picked up a Carvel® Ice Cream Cake with Confetti, Family Size, from the store’s bakery section.
After putting together an Easter tablescape, whipping up food, and getting the house ready for dinner guests, sometimes you lose steam on trying to cook all the food and desserts.
A convenient cake from I Love Ice Cream Cakes is a great way to add a little pizzazz to your celebration.
Here’s how we hacked an ice cream cake for Easter
First, pick up a Carvel Ice Cream Cake from Walmart. We selected the Ice Cream Cake with Confetti, which allows us to have enough room to decorate the cake for Easter.
Pro-tip: You will need to quickly decorate the ice cream cake and stick it back in the freezer!
For our Easter Ice Cream Cake, we picked up a variety of Easter candy (you can find a nice selection at Walmart. I also stopped by Home Goods and picked up some pastel color candy and the rabbit.)
We decorated our Ice Cream Cake with the following items:
- (1) Rabbit Cookie
- (4) Pastel Bubble Gum Balls
- (4) Pastel Color Almonds (you can also use Easter Malted Milk Eggs)
- Several Easter Candy Corn
Once you’re done decorating your ice cream cake, stick it back in the freezer until it’s time to serve the ice cream cake.
This particular Carvel Ice Cream Cake is made with layers of vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate crunchies and fresh whipped icing; this confetti-decorated ice cream cake is a celebration.
What I love about this particular cake, besides the delicious taste, is that we were able to customize the top of our cake for our Easter celebration.
If you don’t want to hack your ice cream cake for Easter, I Love Ice Cream Cakes also sells a festive Carvel Easter Bunny Cake.
Decorating for Easter
So now that I’ve shared my secret with you on hacking an ice cream cake, let me share how I put together this gorgeous Easter tablescape.
I might be biased, but I LOVE how this turned out!
When it comes to decorating for Easter, I went with pastel, spring-like colors.
Seeing that I am the only girl in this house, I try to keep that in mind when decorating our home.
However, sometimes, you have to go with pink and purple colors.
How to create an Easter Treat Bar
So how does one create an Easter treat bar, you may ask? It’s super easy!
You need to gather all your supplies and a few accessories to pull it all together.
Here’s what I used for my Easter Candy Bar
- Easter Bubble Gum Balls {Home Goods}
- Pastel Candy Corn { Home Goods}
- Easter Pastel Almonds {Home Goods}
- Assorted Easter Candy {Home Goods}
- Easter Carrot Candy {Home Goods}
- I also picked up a variety of Easter candy while shopping for the boys’ Easter baskets.
- Bunny Jar {Home Goods}
- Rae Dunn Easter Mugs {Home Goods}
- Assorted Chocolate Bunny Candy {Walmart}
- Easter straws {Home Goods}
- Green + White Bunnies {Hobby Lobby + Home Goods}
- Jelly Beans {Walmart}
- Pastel Easter Eggs {Home Goods}
- Easter Goodie Bags {Home Goods}
- Easter Straw
- Marshmallow Peeps {Home Goods}
- Peeps on a stick {Home Goods}
- Easter yogurt flavored dipped pretzels {Walmart}
If you want to stick to one store, Walmart carries a ton of Easter candy.
I also used a variety of cake stands to help organize all of the candy.
Isn’t this so cute? And I staged all of the candy at different levels so our guests could easily access it.
If you are hosting Easter dinner at your house, have treat bags filled with small Easter gifts.
We also added some balloons, which seemed to be a big hit with Zayd’n. You can stop by your local party supply store to grab a few.
How to decorate your table for Easter
When decorating your table for Easter, it’s okay to mix pastels and different patterns.
That’s precisely what I decided to do for this pastel Easter tablescape idea. You can also skip pastels altogether and go with something bright or moody.
Your table, your rules.
Here’s how I put together this pastel Easter tablescape
- Silverware
- Goblets {I used two sets to up the fanciness!}
- Aqua patterned chargers {Hobby Lobby}
- White dinner plates with silver trim {Ikea}
- Pastel Rabbit Salad Plates {Home Goods}
- I used two different types of cloth napkins- a light blue cloth napkin and a light pink patterned cloth napkin {Pier 1}
How to create an Easter Centerpiece
For the centerpiece, I wanted to use fresh flowers. Living in Michigan in April means our fresh flower supply is limited.
Thankfully, our local Farmer’s Market had white tulips available.
I set two marble cake stands in the middle of the table. Using pink-painted mason jars, I put the tulip arrangement in each jar. I added various colorful eggs to each cake stand for pops of color.
I weaved a sheer white cloth with polka dots on it throughout the middle of the table.
I finished this Easter centerpiece by adding rose gold eggs across the table, a white ceramic rabbit, an additional rabbit, and a Rae Dunn Easter jar.
I love how it turned out. It’s light and airy. Plus, fresh flowers are a nice touch to any tablescape idea.
Adding our hacked Carvel Ice Cream Cake to this Easter tablescape is the crowning moment!
It perfectly fits our decor, and now we’re ready to celebrate Easter!
Ice Cream Cake is perfect for any occasion and will be a huge hit at your party or gathering.
Our boys loved the combination of ice cream and cake in one sweet dessert!
Using a Carvel Cake from I Love Ice Cream Cakes took the weight off my shoulders of worrying about dessert.
This gave me more time to focus on putting my tablescape and candy buffet together.
So not only did I save time by decorating an already made dessert; it was a big success with our family, bringing smiles and the words “yum, this is delicious” from all around the room.
We saved so much time on not worrying about a dessert that Derrick whipped up a delicious Carrot dip and an Easter blue cocktail for our Easter party!
Cheers to a beautiful and happy Easter!
