Oga’s Cantina on Galaxy’s Edge: Everything You Need to Know
Oga’s Cantina is the hotspot of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. This new land is open in Disneyland and will soon be available to Walt Disney World guests at Hollywood Studios. Part of the draw of this watering hole is the nostalgia of the Mos Eisley Cantina scene in Star Wars A New Hope. This Cantina is reminiscent of that one to an extent, but it’s very much its own thing. Here you will find everything you need to know about Oga’s Cantina at Galaxy’s Edge.
The Location
The Cantina is located in the heart of the Black Spire Outpost on planet Batuu. Batuu is an old planet on the outer rim that used to get more traffic before the invention of hyperdrive. Now the outpost is bypassed by most travelers and only those who would rather lay low end up there. It just so happens that Batuu is the current resting place of the Millenium Falcon, which landed here after fleeing the First Order during the Battle of Crait. The Cantina is located near the falcon and also the Droid Depot and Savi and Son Salvage.
The Bar
The Bar includes an extensive list of premixed alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The drinks are pulled from taps behind the bar. There is little in the way of food. Just a dry mix and a strange concoction of cotton candy flavor, lemonade, and blueberry called Oga’s Obsession. In addition to cocktails and other specialty beverages, there are two wines, four beers and one hard cider on tap.
Cocktails
Fuzzy Tauntaun, Jedi Mind Trick, T-16 Skyhopper, The Outer Rim, Dagobah Slug Slinger, Bespin Fizz, Jet Juice, Yub Nub (Souvenir Endor Cup)
Mocktails
Hyperdrive (Punch It), Blurrgfire, Cliff Dweller (Souvenir Porg Cup), Jabba Juice, Carbon Freeze, Blue Bantha. During my visit to Bantu, I tried the Hyperdrive and it was delish! More on the sweet side, so if a sweet drink isn’t your thing, you may want to try another one.
Beer
Gold Squadron Lager, White Wampa Ale, Gamorrean Ale, Bad Motivator IPA, Rancor Beer Flight (Souvenir Board with Rancor Teeth)
Wine
Toniray, Imperial Guard
Hard Cider
Spice Runner
Breakfast
Oga’s Cantina has a changing menu depending on the time of day. That includes morning cocktails such as a coffee-based Spiran Caf and a Bloody Rancor. Non-alcoholic breakfast beverages include. Blue Bantha, Moogan Tea, Black Spire Brew, and Tarine Tea. Oga’s Cantina also offers coffee, espresso, orange juice, and apple juice.
Two offerings are available for a quick bite during breakfast. The Mustafarian Lava Role is a must-try rolled pastry with chocolate mousse, cookie crumbles, and raspberry glaze. The Rising moons Overnight Oats is a refreshing breakfast served cold with fresh fruit.
The Seating and other Limitations
The seating is minimal in Oga’s Cantina. Most tables are only for standing. Because space is very limited, it is one of the more difficult places to get into. Even with the low attendance at Disneyland, the virtual queue system was needed during the reservation period to avoid outrageously long lines outside the building. Due to low capacity, this venue tends to be busy even when the rest of Galaxy’s Edge is not.
When you get into Oga’s Cantina, be prepared to be placed with another party. You will also be kept to a 45 minute time frame and a drink maximum of 2.
The Atmosphere
DJ R-3X
The disgraced Starspeeder 3000 pilot has also washed up on Batuu and is now the DJ at Oga’s cantina. Pop over to his booth for a selfie. Although there is no live music, R-3X loves to spin that old classic “Mad About Me,” also known as the Cantina Band Song.
Hyperdrive Engine
Oga’s Cantina is powered by a hyperdrive engine, which adds a nice bit of detailed ambiance to space. It also gives out occasionally, so watch out.
Creatures
All around the Cantina are various creatures who provide essential ingredients for some of the available cocktails.
Oga
Oga has mentioned in some canon Star Wars literature but has yet to be seen. However, you can hear here above the cantina if you listen carefully. Oga is a Blutopian with gangster ties. She is just as unsavory a character as anyone else in Black Spire, and she is not to be messed with.
The Prices
Although the prices for the drinks are pretty standard as Disney cocktails go, the drinks are premixed, which for some means a loss of value. The Cliff Dweller, Yub Nub and Rancor Beer Flight are notoriously expensive, due to the souvenirs you can keep. They are priced at $32, $42, and $75 plus tax respectively.
