Last summer, Zayd’n created a bucket list of things he wanted to do. One of his must-do lists was going to Michigan’s Adventure. It’s the perfect one-day Michigan summer road trip idea.
So, we headed to Muskegon from Lansing for a day of fun in the sun!
Today, I’m sharing highlights of our trip and what should be on your must-do list when you head to Michigan’s Adventure this summer.
29 Awesome Reasons To Go To Michigan’s Adventure {theme park}
Michigan’s Adventure has a new theme for 100 reasons why you should visit their park this year.
I’m not going to list all of their 100 reasons, but I will highlight a few and add my own. You can check out their 100 reasons here.
Here are the reasons why we loved going to Michigan’s Adventure.
1. You’ll always have a good time. It doesn’t matter if you’re a first-timer or a seasoned MA guest; you WILL have fun.
My boys have been to the famous Theme Parks in Florida, California, and Ohio. But it’s nice to have something right in your backyard (sort of).
As I mentioned before, it was Zayd’n’s first time going to MA, and he had a blast! His favorite ride was Shivering Timbers.
He loved it so much that he had to ride it again!
2. Thrills for days. If you’re a thrill seeker, Michigan’s Adventure has you covered.
They have thrills for days. My boys are thrill seekers.
They love to live on the wild side of life, which involves some danger and excitement.
So when they saw the Rip Cord sign and watching three people go flying into the air, they begged us to let them do it. I’m not going to lie, as a Mom, I wanted to say, “no, you can’t do that. It looks dangerous.” But it was perfectly safe, and they had a BLAST. All three of them went on the ride together, and Zayd’n had the honors of pulling the cord which swung them through the air.
A favorite ride of all the Worthey men was Thunderhawk. Zayd’n pointed out this ride is a shape of a heart.
3. Go early and go often. We went to Michigan’s Adventure on a Sunday in May.
By going earlier in the season, you will find fewer crowds and the ability to get on rides faster.
And if you become a season pass holder, you can keep returning for one low price { #13 A Season Pass pays for itself in fewer than three visits.}
4. Family Bonding Time. Sometimes you have to get away from the house to spend time with your family. True story.
On this trip to Michigan’s Adventure, we discovered Zion is taller than Ziah. Normally, this is not a big deal. However, Ziah (older twin) has been about two inches taller than his brother for almost a year.
We were walking towards a ride when Derrick noticed it. How did we miss out on this?
Yes, I’m sure we would have eventually seen this, but now we have a special memory of our discovery at Michigan’s Adventure.
5. Even when it’s hot, you can stay cool. Did you know Michigan’s Adventure is two parks in one?
Yes, they have a Water park called WildWater Adventure!
My boys are huge water fans, so we had to make time to spend in the water.
They rode on some water rides but spent the rest of their time in the wave pool.
6. Beach parks without sand. I have only one issue with going to the beach. It’s the sand.
It comes back home with us no matter how much I shake and shake and shake the boys’ clothes and shoes. Sand always finds us.
You don’t have to worry about one grain of sand at Michigan’s Adventure Water Park. You can get your beach on by hanging out at Boogie Beach, and yes, you can even get a tan.
This was the perfect time for me to read while the kids played in the water.
7. Funland Farm. With this celebration, they are bringing back the petting farm. This is the perfect thing for the little kids to do while the bigger kids and adults are enjoying the thrilling roller coasters and rides.
Kids will be able to pet some of their favorite farm animals and take photos. Funland Farm is included in the park admission.
8. You save more with a season pass. If you plan to visit Michigan’s Adventure several times this year, getting a season pass is the best way.
There are a TON of great benefits to being a season holder.
And, you can split your payment for the season pass into payments. This is a great option if you don’t have all the funds to pay for it all at once. Here are some great benefits to being a season pass holder (from Michigan’s Adventure 100 reasons site):
- Season Pass holders who renew their passes receive discounted pricing.
- Ride Valravn at Cedar Point with your Platinum Pass.
- Save 10% on a cheeseburger, fries, and a shake at Coasters.
- Stay for a few hours or stay all day – flexibility is your choice with a Season Pass.
- Save 10% on a new sweatshirt.
- Better than a tanning membership.
- Early Entry to WildWater Adventure on select days.
That’s 7 MORE reasons why Michigan’s Adventure should be on your summer bucket list!
9. It’s affordable for the whole family. While we love our 8-10 vacation days, we also love our one-day adventures.
We are only about 90 minutes from Michigan’s Adventure, so it’s the ideal one-day road trip.
The ticket prices are also reasonable, and considering you’re getting two parks for the price of one makes it even better. Plan to bring food to help cut down on expenses.
Eating in any theme park can add up, which is one way to save.
Having lunch in the parking lot gives you a chance to catch up with your family and talk about some of your favorite rides before you regroup and head back into the park.
10. Capture rare moments to keep forever. I loved seeing my boys bond and have fun.
Michigan’s Adventure came up with 100 reasons to visit their park; here are 10 of the reasons I liked:
- Ride your first coaster!
- Mad mice, sea dragons, wolverine Wildcats, and elephants are not only found in zoos.
- Float down our Lazy River. {I LOVE Lazy Rivers!!}
- Scream for Ice Cream in our waterpark.
- Losing your voice from screaming with your kids… Now that’s a nice change. {that doesn’t take a lot for me to do! LOL}
- Experience the best day of your summer…over and over again!
- Great place to have a family reunion and not have to clean your house.
- Walk the park and see if you can get 10,000 steps on your fitness app.
- Be “
The Best Grandpa Ever.”“The Best Mom EVER!” Your family will be excited about the fun they can have together.
11. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a sad time. This is the perfect way to unwind after a crazy, long week filled with life.
Going to Michigan’s Adventure for our family was the perfect antidote we needed to relax and have FUN! We laughed, ate pizza, and had a great time with each other.
12. It’s Michigan’s Largest Amusement and Water Park. I believe this reason is pretty self-explanatory!
Overall, our trip to Michigan’s Adventure was a good one.
The boys still have about three weeks left of school, but this was a good way to kick off our summer adventures. Zayd’n can now cross this item off his summer bucket list.
