Hot Cocoa Board Using Hot Cocoa Bombs
Tis’ the season for all things hot cocoa and making memories with the family.
We love to sip on cups of homemade hot cocoa while doing things on our Christmas bucket list or decorating The W.
Another thing we love to do, especially if we’re entertaining, is to create food grazing boards.
You will find that this hot cocoa board is loaded with fun, mix-in items for your hot chocolate and even some snacks to nibble on.
Give this a try this holiday season, and watch your family’s eyes light up with delight when they see all the goodies!
Items For Your Board
Hot Cocoa Bombs. You can buy premade hot cocoa bombs or make your hot chocolate bombs. Either way, you can add such a pop of color and fun to your board. You can find hot cocoa bombs at Costco, Sam’s Club, grocery stores, and HomeGoods. We have several recipe ideas for hot cocoa bombs to check out: 40+ Hot Cocoa Bomb Recipes to Make Your Cocoa the Best Around.
Hot Chocolate Cans or Packets. If you happen not to have hot cocoa bombs, that is okay. You can easily do hot chocolate cans or packets. You can buy classic flavors or flavored with peppermint, caramel, etc.
Marshmallows. Find fun flavors or designs to decorate your board. We found various shapes and colors of marshmallows at HomeGoods and World Market.
Peppermint Candies and Candy Canes. These items can be hung on the side of the mug or dropped in the bottom of the mug. As the mixture melts, the mint flavor will release.
Chocolate Spoons. You can buy chocolate spoons or make them. They make stirring your cocoa fun as the chocolate melts and fills richness in your mug. You can find them at your grocery store, HomeGoods, World Market, Target, or craft stores.
Chocolate Chips. Any flavor of chocolate chips works as well; this will make their cup of cocoa even sweeter.
Chocolate. Every hot chocolate board needs to have bite-sized pieces of chocolate.
Sprinkles. Make sure that the sprinkles you get do melt if you have little kids, as they can be a choking hazard if they are too hard and won’t melt down.
Whipped Cream. You could have some whipped cream on hand for topping the mugs. Add on some crushed peppermint or other mix-ins.
What Type of Board to Use
To make this drink board, you don’t have to have anything too fancy. I used a wooden round board we have on hand.
But, you could even go to Dollar Tree and buy a holiday platter to style all your ingredients. A cookie sheet would work as well. Look around in your kitchen to see what you have on hand.
How to Assemble
Start by placing your hot cocoa bombs on random areas of the board. Then put any bowls you are going to use on the board.
Bunch a few together and leave some in other areas.
Now take your chocolate spoons and place them on the board. Then slowly begin adding bunches of items in one area.
The goal is to have a variety of things all over the board to be complete and colorful.
Try to spread out the colors, and you can have different areas with the same mix-in items or candies.
