Hollywood Studios Bucket List: 35 Things You Should Do
If you are lucky enough to get into Hollywood Studios after Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in the park, you will need something to help you focus. The Galaxy’s Edge section has limited capacity and is going to be heavily regulated, so it’s best to consider alternative ways to spend your time in Hollywood Studios park. Every section of Hollywood Studios has some really neat things to experience. You can try to do them all if you have the opportunity, or you could focus on any particular area of the park you might get stuck in because of the crowds. Either way, this Hollywood Studios bucket list, should keep you entertained and introduce you to some new and fun ideas for activities to do in this particular park.
Things to do at Hollywood Studios
- Early Morning Magic. This extra cost option is fantastic. Only Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom do this. It’s only available on select Mondays and Wednesdays; but if you plan it just right, you can buy these tickets that get you into Toy Story Land an hour and fifteen minutes before the park officially opens. The event allows unlimited access to the three Toy Story Land rides as well as a breakfast spread that includes a choice of entree.
- Discover Andy’s Footprint in the ground at Toy Story Land. This section is supposed to be Andy’s yard and you are the size of a toy. So that footprint is going to be pretty big. Be sure to read my Guide to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Toy Story Land.
- Watch the green army drum corps perform with military precision as you play in this area and meet Buzz, Woody, and Jessie.
- As part of the Incredibles celebration in Municiberg join in the fun with the Incredibles Dance Party at the end of the street.
- Enjoy the displays at Edna Mode’s Super Suit Collection in Municiberg on Pixar Place.
- Look for Jack-Jack following clues to his whereabouts. Jack-Jack has a peculiar set of powers, but they leave trails behind as hints in this interactive search for the Incredibaby.
- Head all the way to the end of Sunset Boulevard. Make a left at the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Pass Rockin’ Roller Coaster and make a pit stop at Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. This is a new show for kids that features Lighting McQueen on stage and ready to demonstrate his racing style on the training simulator. This show has a couple of twists that will have the young audiences rallying to support number 95.
- After the show, there is more Cars excitement in the courtyard by the theater. Ready Set Party Time! is an energetic dance party lead by DJ. Spoiler alert!
- Meet Cruz Ramirez out by the Cars party.
- Get a commemorative photo from the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror that shows you disappearing into the Twilight Zone.
- Have a Chili Cheese All-Beef Footlong Hot Dog at Dockside Diner.
- Have a Carrot Cake Cookie at Trolly Car Cafe. Even though it is cakier than the classic one from the Writers Stop It’s still an awesome treat to pick up at the Hollywood Studios Starbucks location.
- Discover the Giant Hidden Mickey in the plaza. There are hidden Mickeys all over the park but this is one of the biggest ever. Parts of him have gone missing as the park evolves, but he’s still there!
- Dine with an Imagineer at the Hollywood Brown Derby for an extra special Activity. These events fill up very quickly so make a reservation as early as you can.
- Have the Famous Cobb Salad at Hollywood Brown Derby. The food at this restaurant is some of the best in Disney World so you can really order anything from the menu. However, since the Brown Derby was known for its Cobb Salad, which this restaurant has faithfully recreated, it’s the only thing I could recommend to everybody who goes here. You can even add shrimp or chicken to this salad. Plus, it is available as a starter and as an entree.
- Take a photo at the studio arch in front of the Animation Courtyard.
- Meet with Chewbacca and Kylo Ren and take the photo ops at the Star Wars Launch Bay in the Animation Courtyard.
- Meet Disney Junior characters for pictures in the Animation Courtyard.
- Go to Commissary Lane and head into Walt Disney Presents for a chance to meet Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc.
- Experience the classic Sci-Fi fun at the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater, where your booth is a convertible in the outdoor, evening ambiance with scoff clips, trailers, and cartoons projected onto a screen.
- Meet Mickey and Minnie at Red Carpet Dreams at the end of Commissary Lane.
- Stop in front of Star Tours for a photo on top of a Speeder Bike.
- Identify the props at the Backlot Express.
- Meet Olaf near the Frozen Sing-Along.
- See Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Echo Lake.
- Have a PB&J milkshake at the Tune In Lounge in Echo Lake
- Have a blue/green milkshake in Batuu (that’s the planet Galaxy’s Edge is on). {I loved the blue milkshake}
- Have a Ronto Wrap in Black Spire (that’s the outpost on Batuu).
- Build a custom lightsaber In Black Spire at Savi and Son Salvage. This name is a front for those inside who imparts the knowledge of the Force.
- Build your own droid at the Droid Depot using either an R unit model or a BB unit model.
- Adopt a Porg, a Tauntaun, or some other rare alien life form found at Bina’s Creature Stall in the Black Spire Marketplace.
- Have a cocktail or non-alcoholic drink at Oga’s Cantina. If your Smuggling mission on board the Millennium Falcon went well, word will have traveled here and you’d be congratulated. If not, your reputation will not fare so well.
- Get a selfie with R-3X in the DJ booth behind you.
- See Wonderful World of Animation.
- See Fantastic with a Fantasmic Dining Package from Hollywood Brown Derby, Hollywood, and Vine, or Mama Melrose. {This is one of my favorite shows!}
