How to make Deep Fried Snickers
Yields: 8 mummies
Prep Time: 20 mins
Bake Time: 10 mins
Cool Time: 5 mins
Ingredients:
- 8 fun size Snickers bars, unwrapped
- 1 8oz can of crescent rolls
- 16 candy eyes
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Tools needed:
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper (optional)
- Scissors or Knife
- Oven
- Paper Towel
- Wire Rack
Step-by-Step Directions on making “Deep Fried” Snickers:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper, and set it aside.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and lay out the triangles of dough, gently stretching each one out in all directions.
- Place a Snickers on each of the triangles of dough vertically, about an inch down from the short, flat side of the dough.
- Cut the long pointy tips of the dough triangles off, about an inch below the bottom of the Snickers. Save those pieces of dough for later.
- Cut horizontal strips in the crescent dough along the left and right sides of the Snickers.
- Fold the top piece of dough up and wrap the long strips around the outer edges of the Snickers, gently pressing to seal shut, and do the same with the bottom piece of dough. Use the remaining strips to crisscross over the body of the Snickers mummy and tuck any excess dough under the mummies. Leave a small space towards the top so you can place eyes after it bakes.
- Take the extra-pointy pieces you cut off at the beginning and cut them into thin strips. Use these strips to add more bandages to each mummy.
- Place the mummies a couple of inches apart on your prepared baking sheet.
- Bake at 400 degrees for approx 10 minutes or until lightly golden on top.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and place the candy eyeballs
- Best served warm, but also delicious served room temp!
Storing Leftovers
If you have leftovers, allow them to cool completely.
Then store in an airtight container and store at room temperature for 2-3 days.
Or in the fridge for 3-4 days. I like to store it in the refrigerator as it extends the shelf life.
Then you can eat cold or warm them up.
If you eat them warm, heat in the oven or an air fryer helps make the crescent roll firmer and not as soft as the microwave.
Tip for Wrapping Crescent Rolls
The fewer gaps in the “bandages,” you will see less seepage.
If you store the snickers in the fridge before making the mummies, this may also help lessen any seepage – however, at 400 degrees for 10 mins; there shouldn’t be an issue. (I have tested these at 375 for 15 minutes, and they did not work as well, so the 400 for approx 10 mins is essential)
Can I make these in an air fryer?
Yes, you can make deep-fried Snickers in the air fryer.
You will need to preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F.
Then bake the mummies for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked thoroughly in the air fryer basket.
When making air fryer snickers, do a single layer and don’t allow the mummies to touch each other.
Can You Deep Fry Snickers?
You can also put the mummies in the deep fryer too! If you decide to deep fry this Halloween treat, get some hot oil for deep frying, such as peanut oil, vegetable oil, etc.
Does this recipe double well?
Yes, you can double this recipe.
Make sure you place your deep-fried candy bars in a single layer and ensure the mummies won’t touch in the oven as they spread and rise.
Otherwise, some areas of the crescent roll will not cook thoroughly.
Can I use a different type of candy bar?
Go right ahead and use any flavor of candy bar you want.
Buy the fun-size candy bars, your favorite candy bar (Mars bars would work, too!), as they work best for the size you need to make for your mummies.
The good news about this fun dessert is how easy it is to make using Crescent rolls versus making a homemade batter.
