Try out my easy Jell-O hearts; they are sweetened condensed milk and Jell0-O dessert.
This is the perfect layered dessert for your sweethearts this Valentine’s day.
The best part is that you can use pink or red colored Jell-O to create the perfect heart in the center of the bright white.
Easy Jell-O Hearts Recipe
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, here’s a CUTE and super EASY recipe you can make for a quite “hearty” treat!
This little treat will be perfect for taking to your kids’ school or to make for a quick valentine’s day treat!
Plus, can we say VERY budget-friendly? Enjoy!
Ingredients Needed
Jello. Use any red or pink-colored jello for the red heart portion. Or, if you want, go ahead and do any color you want.
Gelatin. Unflavored gelatin is needed as it will be mixed with the condensed milk. This will help that layer set up like the regular Jello portion.
Sweetened Condensed Milk. Don’t confuse this with evaporated milk. Condensed milk is very thick and offers a sweet flavor. This will compliment the strawberry Jello nicely.
Ingredients:
- 6 oz. box Strawberry Jello
- 1 envelope of Unflavored Gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
- 7 oz. Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1/4 cup cold Water
- 3/4 cup boiling water
Directions:
- Spray a 8 x 8 pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- Pour the Jell-0 into a large bowl, add 2 cups boiling water, and stir until dissolved. Pour into the pan and place in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- In another bowl, add 1/4 cup cold water. Sprinkle the gelatin packet over it and let it stand for several minutes.
- Stir in 3/4 cups boiling water and sweetened condensed milk until well combined. Allow cooling.
- Invert the red Jell-O pan onto a cutting board or wax paper.
- With a heart cookie cutter, cut hearts out of the jello. Cut as many as you can, but you may not use them in the next step.
- Spray the pan with cooking spray again. Arrange the hearts in the pan, carefully leaving room for white in between each.
- Pour the condensed milk mixture around the hearts and place in the refrigerator for several hours until firm.
- Remove from pan and cut into squares.
What Size Pan To Use
So for this recipe, I used an 8×8 pan, but you can double the recipe if you want to serve a larger crowd and use a 9×13 pan.
It is important to use a non-stick spray, or you will find the mixture gets stuck and won’t come out easily to slice and serve.
How Long Does It Take Jello To Set Up
Since you are making a red jello first, that will take around 2 hours to set up.
Then prep and pour in the white as directed and refrigerate for another 2-3 hours.
I recommend making this jello dessert the day before you plan to serve it or in the morning.
That way, you allow enough time for the jello to chill and fully set.
