Easter Egg Hunt For Teens
Easter is just around the corner, and if you’re a parent of tweens + teens, you may assume you’re done with Easter baskets and candy. Well, I’m here to burst that bubble. Your teens are still expecting to find an Easter basket full of goodies. One thing I’ve learned throughout the years of parenting three growing boys is that they still love to celebrate the holidays. No, they may not want the kid-related fluff, but they still want to create those special memories.
As I started to plan what to put our teens’ Easter baskets, I asked him if he thought he was too old for an Easter Egg Hunt. “No, that would be fun.” So I put together a plan, and I’m sharing how I created an Easter Egg Hunt Party for teens.
How To Host An Easter Egg Hunt Idea
Plan. Easter weekend would be the ideal time to plan an Easter Egg Hunt. You can host the Egg Hunt after dinner.
Shopping. Walmart had available the decorations, themed-food items, Easter supplies (baskets, plastic eggs, clothes, and more), as well as candy. And you can use Online Grocery Pickup. There’s no Easter without Easter candy. REESE’S Eggs and Cadbury Eggs have always been a staple in the Easter baskets, and they are just what you need for your Easter fun.
Here’s a list of REESE’S and Cadbury products featured:
- CADBURY Crème Egg

These products are available at Walmart and here on Walmart.com. You can place an order on Walmart’s website and use Walmart Grocery Pickup.
Easter Set-Up
For my setup, I used Easter grass, tableware, decorative eggs, balloons, and can, which are all available at Walmart. I had carrot cake and cupcakes and used my own tiered tray and cake stand.
Let the candy be the focal point. Since this is all about the Egg Hunt, I let the candy be the focal point. The REESE’S Eggs and Cadbury Eggs are not only sweet treats to enjoy, but they work great as decorations.
Balloon garlands are a fun idea. I love how balloon garlands instantly add a pop of festivity to anything. Once I filled the balloons up, I used balloon tape to help me create a pattern and placed it on the wall. It’s an easy way to make things more fun!
Easter grass themed food, and decorative eggs are items you can add to your themed party. After laying down the Easter grass, I placed Cadbury and REESE’S eggs on top of the grass throughout my set-up.
Don’t forget the Easter goodie bags. The fun isn’t complete without goodie bags. I filled each Easter goodie bag with items picked up at Walmart (REESE’S and Cadbury products, lip care, silly putty).
Set up your display with cake stands and tiered trays, allowing your family to access their choice of candy and food easily. And it’s also an easy way to display your candy, food, and other sweet treats.
When it comes to picking the right Easter candy, you can’t go wrong with REESE’S and Cadbury products. Not only are they just right for the Easter baskets, but they work for decorations, on top of cakes and cupcakes, freak shakes, and more. I mean, who doesn’t love the winning combination of peanut butter and chocolate? It’s great to have any time of the year, but especially during the holidays.
Easter Egg Decorating Contest { Easy Hack}
Another way to add fun entertainment to your Easter fun is by having an Easter Egg Decorating Contest. It’s a fun way to get the teens to decorate Easter eggs. If you don’t want to deal with boiling eggs, I have a super easy hack for you! Use REESE’S Shake & Break Eggs instead of real eggs. Not only do you save time, but the kids will enjoy biting into these REESE’S Eggs for a sweet surprise.
Here’s what you will need:
- REESE’S Shake & Break Egg (You can buy these individually at Walmart or in a 6-pack)
- A variety of Easter sprinkles
- Candy Melts for dipping
Once you’ve melted the candy melts into bowls (use separate containers for each color), add the mixture of sprinkles into individual bowls. Let the kids get creative on how to decorate their eggs. For an incentive, you can have a prize for the winner and runner-up. This was our first time using REESE’S Eggs for decorating. I loved how seamless this process was for the kids and me. I didn’t have to deal with the mess of boiling and dying eggs.
REESE’S Eggs were the perfect chocolate canvas for our contest. I think the teens had more fun opening up the REESE’S Shake & Break Eggs and eating the candy. For all future Easter egg decorating, I will be turning to this quick hack. It’s always a win-win for parents when there is an easier way to do something without the extra mess and time.
Easter Egg Hunt For Teens
We are fortunate to live right next to a wooded area, which was a great place to hide the plastic eggs. I filled the eggs with REESE’S and Cadbury candy, as well as money. If you’re planning an egg hunt for younger kids, you can find a variety of filler items at Walmart. But for our teens, I knew chocolate and money would be ideal.
You can have the teens work in teams or individually Our teens enjoyed a little friendly competition, so once I gave them the go-ahead, they took off into the woods determined to get the most eggs.
As Derrick and I listened to them laugh and run around looking for eggs, it warmed my heart to know they still enjoyed pure fun.
While today’s teens are all into the latest social media apps, their phones, and video games, it’s refreshing to see them put their phones down and have fun.
Once all the eggs were collected, bragging rights were called of who had the most eggs. With candy and money found in their eggs, they expressed their delight in the fun they had looking for the eggs. But most importantly, they spent time together.
Create Those Memories
And that’s a wrap on our Easter Egg Hunt for teens. This was our first year doing this for our teens, and it was a huge success. The kids shared some of their favorite memories from Easter when they were little, and one of the common themes I heard was the memories created with family. Sometimes I get frustrated as a mom because I think my teens are not listening, or they are too old for these types of celebrations. But I was reminded of how much our kids still enjoy things like Easter parties, candy, and Easter Egg Hunts.
Our boys love finding a new jersey, book, gift cards, and candy in their Easter baskets each year.
So parents, if you think that you can skip out on those traditions, or that your son or daughter is too old for Easter activities, I’m here to tell you to keep doing it. One of my favorite Easter traditions with my family was getting a new Easter dress and matching hat. The traditions you create with your kids are passed down to their kids, and so forth.
Walmart, REESE’S, and Cadbury understand tradition and want to help make your Easter Egg-stra special! However, you plan to celebrate the holiday, make sure it’s filled with chocolatey goodness and your favorite people!
Happy Easter!
