How to make a Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Hot Chocolate
On our recent trip to San Francisco, we stopped at the Ghirardelli store and picked up several bars of chocolate. They were having a buy four, get two for free sale! {who can pass up a deal like this, especially on Ghirardelli chocolate!!}
Back home, I knew I needed to make something epic with these chocolate bars.
Using the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel bar, I knew this specific chocolate would make a bangin’ cup of homemade hot chocolate.
With salted caramel sauce, a little milk, vanilla, dark fudge, whip cream, and a little imagination, I put together this easy homemade hot chocolate recipe.
The boys love having their hot chocolate with a bowl of popcorn as they watch movies.
This past weekend, Zayd’n started his annual tradition of watching all of his favorite Christmas movies.
With a cup of dark chocolate sea salt, caramel hot chocolate, and a bowl of popcorn, he settled in to watch Elf!
Grab the recipe below and have it ready to make this winter and holiday season!
Ingredients:
*serving for 1
- 1 1/2 Cups 2% Milk (or milk or choice)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 ounces of Ghirardelli’s Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Salted Caramel Sauce
- 1 tbsp Dark Fudge Sauce
- Whipping Cream
- 1-2 tbsp Salted Caramel Sauce for top
Directions:
- In a heavy medium saucepan, heat the milk until just simmering.
- Remove from heat.
- Add the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, and vanilla to the saucepan. Whisk until smooth.
- Return to low-medium heat, cook and stir until the desired temperature.
- Remove from heat and pour into your favorite hot chocolate cup.
- Top with whipped cream and drizzle with Salted Caramel Sauce.
