Things To Do On A Colorado Vacation With Teens
The whole of Colorado is a feast for the eyes. Just going for a drive to soak up the views is a must. But there just so happens to be quite a bit more for families to enjoy in the home of the Rocky Mountains. I had the pleasure of exploring a little bit of Colorado a few years ago, and I look forward to going back with the entire family. Finding fun vacation ideas to do with teens can be quite a challenge, but I’ve gathered up a list of ideas to do in the Pikes Peak Colorado area vacation with the family down below.
All around the Colorado Springs area
Cave of the Winds Mountain Park – You might need a whole day set aside for a trip to Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. Take the family on the Discovery Tour to learn of the history of the caves and explore them as you do. Other tours are available for those who are feeling exceptionally brave. Outside the caves, strap into an overhead tracking system that allows you to test your courage along the rim of Williams Canyon. Try out the ziplines and the terrifying TERROR-dactyl ride that launches you into the canyon at 100 MPH. The littles can pan for gold and play games.
Garden of the Gods Park – 15 miles worth of trails wind around the Garden of the Gods Park, all varying in difficulty from easy to moderate. This place is beautiful. It’s a free park with breathtaking views, but if you want to take as much in as possible, take a quick lesson on a segway then roll through this beautiful park with ease.
Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Museum – Anyone in your family a fan of motorcycles? Even if you’re not an avid biker, you’ll enjoy the Motorcycle Museum with its more than 75 original and fully restored bikes. Find Harley-Davidson, Indian, Mustang, Panther, and more vintage and antique motorcycles.
In and around the Pikes Peak region for the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitor’s Bureau. Manitou Springs.Fun arcade games. No, this may not be their typical video game, but kids and parents can have a blast playing arcade games. It’s rare to find this type of entertainment around here, so it’s something we enjoy doing while traveling with our teens.
North Cheyenne Cañon Park – North Cheyenne Cañon Park is a thousand feet deep with a creek that runs along the bottom. Go for a hike or ride a bike along one of the many trails; keeping an eye out for waterfalls as well as large animals who love to habitat here.
Rock Climbing. Colorado is the perfect state to spend time outdoors with your teens. I’m always looking for new things to do while we’re on vacation, and rock climbing as a family is on our bucket list. After trying zip-lining a few years ago, the boys enjoyed that adventure, so I’m sure trying rock climbing would be one for the books.
CityRock is the premier climbing destination with the best of both worlds from a cool indoor facility to some of the best outdoor climbing available. Front Range Climbing Co. is another safe and educational rock climbing entity in the area that will provide some of the best guided climbing services. An amazing spot to rock climb outdoors is at Garden of the Gods. Be sure and stop by the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, as they offer daily trips for first timers, as well as any level of climber.
Colorado Jeep Tours – Your teens will especially love a Colorado Jeep Tour. Ride in the open-air Jeeps to explore the Red Canyon Park or the famous Royal Gorge, all while learning about the history of the areas.
Go flying. If your kids love trying something new, consider letting them go on a “thrill of a lifetime” by flying around the Pikes Peak Region with Fly Colorado Ultralights.
You will also find fun adventures like white water rafting, paintball, ziplining, go-karting, hiking and more. Colorado offers so much for families with teens, girlfriend getaways, and more. If you love a good adventure, Colorado has one designed just for you. Learn more about things to do in Colorado and start planning your trip today!
