What You Will Need To Make Our Blueberry Smash Tea Mocktail:
Hibiscus Blueberry Tea. This mocktail starts with brewing up a pot of hibiscus blueberry tea; we used The Republic of Tea blueberry hibiscus tea.
Blueberry Smash. Make blueberry smash using fresh blueberry, light brown sugar, a couple of tablespoons of fresh-squeezed of lemon juice, and a few muddled mint leaves. Bring the ingredients to boil in a saucepan and mash the berries to release the juices. Get the recipe down below.
Honey. Adding a little bit of honey (or guava syrup) makes this mocktail shine. Use whatever kind of honey you have on hand, from clove honey to lavender honey. A little sweetness goes a long way.
Fresh Mint & Orange Slices. Tea and fresh mint have a history, and it’s a rich history, but that’s not all we’re adding a slice of sweet orange for a hint of citrus.
Blueberry Smash Tea Mocktail
Ingredients:
- 1-2 Hibiscus blueberry tea bags
- 1 heaping tablespoon blueberry smash
- 2 muddles mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ice
- orange slice
- a sprig of fresh mint
Directions:
- Muddle mint leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker to release oils, add honey and one cup of chilled hibiscus blueberry tea, add blueberry smash, and top with a cup of ice cubes.
- Secure the lid of the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for thirty seconds.
- Strain into a rocks glass filled with pebble ice, top with a spoonful of blueberry smash.
- Garnish with an orange slice and a sprig of fresh mint.
- Serve.
Blueberry Smash Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 cup of fresh ripe blueberries
- 1 cup of purified water
- 3/4 cup of light brown sugar
- 4 large mint leaves
- 2 tbsps of. freshly squeezed lemon juice
Directions
- Into a saucepan, add the blueberries, light brown sugar, and mint leaves. Muddle the mixture to break apart the blueberries and release the essence of the mint leaves.
- Add the water, and bring the mixture to a boil; allow the mixture to boil for one minute.
- Turn off the heat and remove the saucepan to the cool side of the stovetop.
- Place a tight-fitting lid over the saucepan and allow the mixture to steep for ten minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a sterile glass jar with a screw-on lid.
- The blueberry smash syrup will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks.
