What Is A Mojito
Mojitos are a Cuban cocktail traditionally made with white rum, sugar, and mint leaves. When mixed properly, you will have the tangy and minty flavor that is characteristic of a refreshing and classic mojito cocktail. However, you have options! Variations include swapping the rum for mezcal for a smokier mojito. You can also use gin to make a London Mojito. Try a Southern Mojito by using rye, Tennesee, or Kentucky bourbon. And even vodka gets in on the fun when used to mix up a Vodka Mojito.
What Alcohol Is In Mojitos
White rum or tequila is what you will want to use for this recipe. You are welcome to try out different varieties of liquor to see if you prefer one more over the other.
What kind of mint for mojitos?
Head to your grocery store or head outdoors for a mint leaf or two. You will smash the mint leaves to help release the delicious minty extract inside. Mint is an essential part of the drink.
I don’t recommend using mint extract or mint essential oil to replace the leaves.
How to garnish blueberry mint mojito?
Garnish your mojito with mint leaves, blueberries, and even a lime wedge. You can decorate your cup or just let the drink be enough. I love adding a lime wedge on top so that if someone wants more lime, they can squeeze it in.
Can I make a mojito in advance?
Mojitos are always best when served fresh and paired with ripe, juicy, and sweet blueberries; it’s easy to enjoy this perfect summertime drink. Protip: When mixing mojitos ahead of time, leave the ice out, or it will water down your cocktail. Add ice into the serving glasses just before serving and pour the mojito over the ice. Add fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime for the perfect garnish!
Can I make this non-alcoholic?
Go right ahead and swap the alcohol with club soda or ginger ale or a lemon-lime soda. Also, many non-alcoholic spirits on the market choose from when you don’t want to use traditional cocktail ingredients. Plus, making mocktails offer a non-alcoholic drink for kids and even adults who don’t want to drink. The bubbles from the soda will be flavorful and super delicious.
