Want to see Black Panther and the Dora Milaje in person? Then it’s time to plan a trip to Disney’s California Adventure Park and get in on the Wakanda action. I’m sharing everything you need to know about Black Panther at Disneyland.
Black Panther Character Meet And Greet | Everything You Need To Know
Marvel’s Black Panther arrived in theaters everywhere February 16th. The reaction to this record-breaking film was overwhelming. People saw the movie three and four times, not only because it was THAT good, but it was inspirational, prompted dialogue in communities and on social media, and paved the way for the future.
Black Panther Theme Park
Now that the dust has settled a little bit and Marvel gets ready for another record-breaking film, Avengers: Infinity War (which features Black Panther), people are now asking, “So, when is Disney going to build a Wakanda theme park?”
And knowing Disney, I’m sure they are cooking up something good. While we wait for the next big thing, you can get a little piece of Wakanda right now when you visit Disneyland.
Yes, Wakanda has come to Black Panther, and it’s pretty cool. When we planned our annual spring break trip, going to Disney in California was put at the top of the bucket list. On an early Friday morning, we packed up the Kia Sedona (such a fun, modern mini-van for the whole family) and made our way to Disneyland.
If you want to get in on the Black Panther action in person, then it’s time to book a trip out west. Here’s everything you need to know. {Note: all photos taken below are with our Samsung Galaxy phone. Yes, this camera gets the same quality you get with a DSLR}
Where can I find Black Panther at Disneyland?
Black Panther and the Dora Milaje can be found inside of California Adventure Park (Disneyland, California). They are located in Hollywood Land (back lot are/Stage 17).
How long will Black Panther be at Disneyland?
King T’Challa and the Dora Milaje are at California Adventure park for a limited time. As of now, there is no end date set, so it’s best to try to visit sometime this summer. The hours may change from day-to-day, so be sure to check Disneyland’s website when you plan your visit. The hours have typically been between 12-5:30 p.m.
When we went, our wait was about an hour. Initial reports stated the wait was up to three hours when this meet and greet opened up at California Adventure Park. While we waited in line, we played games, talked to people around us, and one of the women from the Dora Milaje walked around.
That’s a great time to get an individual photo with a Dora Milaje. Plus, she was funny. Two of our boys were sitting on the rails, and she told them to get down. They moved like their butts were on fire, Derrick and I stood there cracking up laughing. And she looked at Zayd’n and told him to behave. She could tell that he was something else.
But seriously, how can I get one of the Dora Milaje to come home with me? LOL
Black Panther Procession through Hollywood Land
Right around the time Black Panther and the Dora Milaje are ready to come out and meet their fans, they walk down from the Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout ride to the Stage 17 area. That’s another good time to snap a photo and even record the small procession coming down the streets of Hollywood Land. You will hear familiar music from the movie playing as well. It was pretty cool and gave me all the chills!
Black Panther Character Meet and Greet at Disney’s California Adventure Park
Once you get to the front of the line, you will be ushered into a small room. Inside is Black Panther and the Dora Milaje. You will also get a chance to see vibranium up close, as well as some of the other paraphernalia used in the movie.
While in line you will also receive a Black Panther activity booklet. In it, are fun facts about the movie, the Black Superhero, Wakanda, as well as activities kids can do while waiting in line.
And while we all know that it’s just an actor playing King T’Challa, the whole experience is one-of-a-kind. My boys are over being excited about seeing characters, but Black Panther was the exception. They took their booklets up to Black Panther, and he signed up. They did the Wakanda Forever handshake, and we all took a family photo with Black Panther.
Do I need a ticket for the Black Panther meet and greet?
No, it is part of the attractions of California Adventure Park. However, you do need a ticket to get inside of California Adventure Park.
Is Black Panther at Disney World?
No, at this time you can only find the meet and greet for Black Panther inside of California Adventure located in Anaheim, California.
Marvel and California Adventure Park
It seems that Marvel superheroes are taking over quite a bit of California Adventure Park. And with the recent news of A Bug’s Land closing in this theme park, Disney is making way for more Marvel interactions. I highly suspect this is probably where we will see a Black Panther ride introduced. While you’re in California Adventure Park, you will also find Pixar Toyfest and the Food and Wine Festival going on right now.
Plus, be sure to ride the Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout ride. It’s a lot of fun! Plus, you may get a chance to see Groot!
Best places to stay near Disneyland
If you plan to go Disneyland for a few days, one of the best places to stay in Anaheim is Anaheim Vacation Home. They have vacation homes located all over Anaheim with quite a few being close to Disneyland. Our vacation home was about a 1/2 mile from Disneyland. We could have walked to the park and saved money on the $25 parking fee. However, everyone wanted to ride in the fancy Kia Sedona Mini-Van.
We enjoyed our time at Disneyland and California Adventure Park. However, a big highlight of our day was the Black Panther Character meet and greet, as well as the rides.
Black Panther comes out on DVD and digital next month, so stay tuned for our ideas on hosting a watch party to celebrate the DVD release. In the meantime, book your trip to California, buy your tickets to Disney’s California Adventure Park so you can catch King T’Challa and the Dora Milaje in person. It’s one unique experience you don’t want to miss.
