We start with fresh North Bay Produce French Green Beans sauteed in peanut oil with minced ginger.
After removing the green beans, we add a bit more oil and brown our steak until it is tender.
Next, we add layers of flavor by adding onions, shallots, green onions, sweet red peppers, and garlic.
We combine the ingredients, then add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and fish sauce.
The finished recipe is inexpensive, plus it’s delicious. Serve rice or over lo mein rice noodles.

Classic Asian green bean and beef recipes inspired our beef stir-fry recipe.
What You Need
Fresh Green Beans. The fresher the green beans, the easier they will cook; give them a quick saute in a little bit of peanut oil, then add two tablespoons of water, place a tight-fitting lid over the skillet, and allow the green beans to steam for 5-6 minutes. Perfect.
Minced Garlic. When sauteeing the green beans, add a heaping tablespoon of minced ginger. I love using fresh ginger, but to save time, store-bought minced organic ginger is the way to go.
Skirt or Flank Steak. The best beef for stir fry is typically skirt or flank steak because both cuts of meat are lean, but other cuts work too. I have made this recipe using a New York strip steak cut into 2-inch pieces. Whatever kind of steak you use, make sure you cut across the grain; this ensures the meat won’t become tough while you’re cooking it.
Onions, Sweet Red Peppers, Ginger & Green Onions. Adding a combination of vegetables is an easy way to add even more flavor.
Soy Sauce, Oyster Sauce & Fish Sauce. Adding this trio of sauces adds lots of savory flavors, and you can add more or less of each to suit your taste.
Peanut Oil & Sesame Oil. When preparing Asian-inspired recipes, I like using peanut oil; it works for me. But when it comes to sesame oil, I like to use it as a finishing oil; drizzle it on the recipes just before serving.

Why use fresher green beans for stir fry
Did you know the fresher the green beans, the quicker they will cook? Older beans may look fresh, but they will take longer to cook.
Fresh green beans are a great addition to stir-fry dishes for several reasons:
- Texture: Fresh green beans have a crisp texture that can add a satisfying crunch to stir-fry dishes. This texture can help balance other ingredients in the dish, such as softer vegetables or tender cuts of meat.
- Flavor: Fresh green beans have a mild, slightly sweet flavor that can complement a wide range of other ingredients. This makes them a versatile addition to stir-fry dishes, as they can help bring out the flavors of other ingredients without overpowering them.
- Nutrition: Fresh green beans are packed with nutrients, including vitamins A, C, and K, as well as fiber and antioxidants. Adding them to your stir-fry can help boost the nutritional content of your meal.
Overall, fresh green beans are an excellent option for stir-fried dishes because of their texture, flavor, and nutritional value. When cooked properly, they can add flavor and nutrition to your meal while helping balance other ingredients.
That’s why we love North Bay Produce, they are based in Traverse City, Michigan, but they have a network of growers in South and Central America to ensure they deliver fresh produce all year long.
Best Beef for Stir Fry
When it comes to stir-frying, it’s essential to choose the right cut of beef to ensure that your dish is both flavorful and tender. Here are some of the best beef options for stir-fry:
- Sirloin steak: This cut of beef is lean and tender, making it perfect for stir-fry dishes. Look for a sirloin steak that is well-marbled with fat, as this will help to keep the meat juicy and tender.
- Flank steak: This cut of beef is also lean and flavorful, and it’s often used in stir-fry dishes. However, flank steak can be challenging if it’s not cooked correctly, so it’s important to slice it against the grain and cook it quickly over high heat.
- Ribeye steak: This cut of beef is rich and flavorful, with plenty of marbling throughout the meat. While it may be a bit more expensive than other cuts, it’s worth the splurge if you want to add extra flavor to your stir-fry.
- Skirt steak: This cut of beef is similar to flank steak, but it’s even more tender and flavorful. However, it can be a bit more difficult to find in some grocery stores.
Ultimately, the best cut of beef for stir-frying depends on your preferences and the specific recipe you’re using. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different cuts until you find the one that works best for you!
