What you will need
Brie. For this recipe, I used two rounds of brie; you can use one or more depending on how many people you’re serving.
Apples and Pears. Both apples and pears pair well with brie; I recommend cooking them, then spooning the cooked fruit over the brie and warming it in the oven.
Other cooked fruits work well with brie, like
- apricots
- cherries
- peaches
- plums
Walnuts. We added chopped walnuts, and we loved them, but you can also your favorite kinds of crunchy bits, like:
- pistachios
- almonds
- macadamia
- toasted coconut
- pecans or praline pecans
Thick-Cut Bacon. Add the chopped think-cut bacon with its salty, savory flavor paired well with the baked apples, pears, and sweet honey.
Honey. It’s no surprise honey works with baked brie. We used local honey to sweeten the deal on our version of this popular baked brie recipe.

- 2 tbsp of lemon juice
- 1 tbsp of cinnamon sugar
- 2 tbsp of unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp of water
- 2 pears but in half

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Add the apples to a bowl and add the lemon juice and cinnamon sugar; toss the apples to evenly coat.
Cut the pears in half, remove the core, brush them with lemon juice, and dust them with sugar cinnamon.
Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add the 2 tablespoons of butter; when the butter is melted, add the apples and two tablespoons of water, and stir; reduce the heat to low and cook until the apples are soft for about 7 to 8 minutes.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the apples to a small bowl and set aside.
Adjust the heat to medium-high and place the pears cut-side down into the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes, then adjust the heat to low and cook for 7 to 8 minutes until the pears are soft but not mushy.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the pears to a place cut-side up and set them aside.
Place the brie into the skillet, then add the apples on top. Put the skillet into the oven on the middle rack and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove the brie from the oven and add the pears, crumbled bacon, and chopped nuts.
Drizzle with honey.
Serve with crusty bread, bagel chips, Biscoff cookies, or crackers.
What other soft cheeses can I use instead of Brie?
Here are some of my favorite substitutes:
- camembert
- coulommiers
- triple cream cheese
I can’t eat nuts, are there any suitable alternatives?
- Try toasted pumpkin or sunflower seeds.
Instead of bacon, can I use another crispy topping?
Try one of these savory toppings:
- french fried onions
- toasted slivered almonds
- savory herb panko or breadcrumbs
