Americana DIY Hot Dog Stand
Where is this summer going…already? It seems as if we just celebrated Memorial Day weekend, and now the Fourth of July is just around the corner. And with the Fourth, comes all things Americana. When you think of classic American food, hot dogs, ketchup, and mustard are part of this comprehensive list. And not just any ketchup and mustard, but French’s® Classic Yellow Mustard, a staple in households dating back to 1904. “Served with hot dogs, it was love at first bite!”
One thing I love about French’s Classic Mustard is it’s 100% natural. I’m all for worry-free food, and French’s products provide that with their natural ingredients, free of gluten, and no artificial flavors.
French’s® Tomato Ketchup also has a great flavor and free of high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, gluten, and artificial flavors & colors.
There are so many ways to eat a hot dog, but I love just a hot dog with ketchup and mustard. And maybe a few onions. With the Fourth of July coming up, I knew it would be a fun idea to create an Americana Hot Dog stand. Today I’m going to share with you how I put this DIY Hot Dog Stand together, and give tips on how you can recreate this look.
Can we talk about how CUTE this cart is? I was shopping at one of my favorite places in town for shabby chic and vintage items and came across this cart. As soon as I saw it, I was like, “Oh, I have to have it!” This cart will have several purposes, but today it’s carting around everything you need for a hot dog stand.
No worries if you can’t find something as cool as this. You could easily use a bar cart, side table, or kid’s table to set up your hot dog station. The most important part is to have the necessary ingredients.
What you will need for your hot dog stand:
- hot dogs
- hot dog buns
- chopped onions
- relish
- French’s® Classic Yellow Mustard
- French’s® Tomato Ketchup
- French’s® Honey Mustard {optional}
- French’s® Spicy Brown Mustard {optional}
- paper products for hot dogs
- beverage
- assorted accessories
- assorted red, white and blue decorations
- sweet treats
For my assorted accessories, I picked up red, white, and blue items from the dollar store. You don’t need to splurge on the accessories. Many stores have dollar sections with patriotic items. I also added a gumball machine, which the boys loved.
Keeping with the Americana theme, I added a few red, white, and blue decorations picked up from a craft store. The red and white checkered baskets also came from a craft store. Most stores have a ton of red, white, and blue items out, so you should not have a problem finding them!
Once you have all of your items, it’s just a matter of strategically placing them on your hot dog stand. Of course, you want the hot dogs, buns, and condiments to be the focus.
I also added a chalkboard off to the side and wrote “hot dogs .50 cents” on it. If you don’t have a chalkboard sign, you can skip this option, or use a white cardboard sign.
At the bottom of the cart, I added additional condiments, mini cupcakes, paper products, and a few patriotic accessories. I love how this all came together!
The boys, especially Zayd’n enjoyed the hot dogs, frozen cherry limeade, and sweet treats. This would be a fun addition to any Fourth of July party or even an idea for a birthday party! Zayd’n dubbed himself the “hot dog man” and made hot dogs for everyone.
Kids and adults will love this idea! Plus, it’s pretty simple to put together.
The “hot dog man” at work!
The Frozen Cherry Limeade was also a big hit with the boys. And of course, I had to put them into mason glasses since that’s also a staple in all things Americana. I picked them up from Tuesday Morning (home decor store).
Frozen Cherry Limeade recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 can of frozen limeade ( I let it thaw out for 5 minutes)
- 1 cup of ice
- 8 oz of lemon-lime soda
- 5 oz of cherry limeade ( I used a store-bought option, but you could make this yourself by finding recipes on Pinterest)
- 4 oz of the juice from a jar of maraschino cherries
- sliced limes
- a handful of maraschino cherries
Directions:
- Mix the lemon-lime soda, cherry limeade, and cherry juice into a cocktail shaker and shake for about 15 seconds.
- Add these ingredients, along with the frozen limeade, cherries, and ice into a blender. I set it on the crush option and blended for about 30-60 seconds.
- Pour into mason glasses or something similar.
- Add a few maraschino cherries and sliced limes.
- Serve.
*Because you are using one can of limeade, you may want to adjust the taste (making sure it’s not too tart) by adding a little more cherry limeade or lemon-lime soda.
And we’re done! See, pretty easy to put together, right?

I am loving this. We use French for our BBQ needs as well when it comes to hotdogs etc. When you think mustard, it’s what you automatically think of. That is a really nice stand, I’m going to have to look for a similar one.

Your red white and blue theme is really cute, especially with the hot dog stand! It’s just enough for a great 4th of July flair. I am definitely trying your Cherry Limeade too.

That is so great! I’ve always been a fan of making up a nice tabelscape for any celebration. Just throwing it all out on a table is so boring!
