For an Oscars watch party, an Oscars gold and black tablescape instantly sets the scene for a night of Hollywood glamour.
This table design blends modern elegance with a touch of sparkle, creating the perfect ambiance for an award-winning evening.
Oscars Gold and Black Tablescape
The 2025 Oscars are this Sunday, and I’m sharing how I put together this gold and black Oscars-inspired tablescape.
I wanted to use the gold and black palette when creating this Oscars-inspired theme. Gold and black perfectly capture Hollywood’s biggest night’s elegance, luxury, and cinematic drama.
Gold is synonymous with the Oscars—from the iconic golden statuette to the opulent gowns and dazzling jewelry on the red carpet. Incorporating gold into your tablescape instantly adds luxury, warmth, and grandeur. Whether through gold charger plates, cutlery, candleholders, or shimmering accents like in our table runner, this color elevates the setting to an award-worthy spectacle.

Black provides depth, contrast, and sophistication, making it the perfect backdrop for gold to shine. A black tablecloth or dinnerware sets the stage for the gold elements to pop, creating a striking balance between bold and refined. Black also reflects the allure of classic Hollywood, reminiscent of black-tie galas, velvet ropes, and film reels.
The contrast of gold and black creates a sense of cinematic drama, much like watching a highly anticipated award show. This color scheme also feels timeless and elegant, making it suitable for a sophisticated yet fun evening with guests.
And the Oscar goes to…
How do you watch the Oscars on Sunday Night?
The 97th Academy Awards are scheduled to air on ABC tomorrow night, Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.
What time will the Oscars start?
The Academy Awards will begin at 7 PM EST and broadcast live on ABC.
How to stream the Oscars?
The 97th Oscars will be streamed live on Hulu for the first time.
Here’s how our Oscars-inspired Gold and Black Tablescape came together:
Let’s start with the center of the table.
Instead of using a tablecloth, the table features a sparkling gold runner, creating a luminous focal point while allowing the table’s beauty to shine.
This design choice feels more modern and keeps the setting from feeling too heavy, letting the gold elements pop.
A mix of black and gold candleholders creates a striking display down the center of the table. They hold cream LED battery-operated tapered candles for a warm, ambient glow.
I added a mix of gold ribbons to each candle to add dazzle, making them feel extra special.
Among the candles, gold disco balls in varying sizes reflect light beautifully, creating a shimmering, star-like effect.
Small Oscar statuettes are nestled between the décor, reinforcing the theme and making the guests feel like part of the Hollywood elite.
Gold + Black Table Setting:
- Gold chargers
- Black modern round plates
- Gold and black star appetizer plates – I alternated with similar white and gold star plates.
- Gold flatware
- Black, sparkling cloth napkins
- Tall goblets with gold trim- I added a festive sparkler to each goblet
Final Touches to this Oscars-themed tablescape:
- Small movie signs are scattered along the centerpiece, enhancing the cinematic experience.
- Tiny gold stars are sprinkled throughout the table, mimicking the glitz of the red carpet and adding a playful touch. I added a few Oscar statues made out of gold cardstock. Both items are leftovers from the DIY award statue bottle holders (directions shared below).
With its textures, bold contrasts, and shimmering details, this gold and black Oscars tablescape is the perfect backdrop for a glamorous night of movie magic, champagne toasts, and award-worthy moments.
Here are some additional tips if you want to add more dramatic touches to your Oscars tablescape idea!
- Assign seats with gold name cards, maybe styled like mini Oscar envelopes. [ mini ballots can be printed here]
- Add a black and gold menu card for an extra fancy touch.
- Consider placing a small Hollywood Walk of Fame star with guests’ names at each setting.
- Dim overhead lights and use candlelight or LED gold fairy lights for a cinematic glow.
- Place a small spotlight or gold lamps to mimic the glow of an award show stage, if possible.
- Incorporate golden popcorn holders for a themed snack. [Check out the Oscars-themed popcorn bar we put together several years ago!]
- Provide mini ballots for guests to vote on winners. [We have a free printable, which is shared below!]

How To Make Oscar-Award Show Bottle Holders
I added these gold Oscars statue bottle holders to give this tablescape an additional award show-worthy feel.
They are great for adding mini sparkling water, sparkling cider, or champagne bottles.
I used my Cricut to create these gold-statue bottle holders out of cardstock. If you are a Cricut user, this will be easy to make!
- Open Cricut Design Space
- In the search bar, you want to search for Award Drink Sleeve (or use linked here)
- Follow the on-screen directions to complete this project.
Equipment and tools you will need:
- Cricut Machine (Explore, Maker, or Joy)
- Gold cardstock or glitter paper
- Black cardstock (optional for layering)
- Standard Grip Mat
- Cricut Design Space
- Fine Point Blade
- Strong Adhesive or Double-Sided Tape
- Scoring Stylus (if using a Cricut Maker/Explore for folding)
- Printable Vinyl (optional for text details)
Assemble the Sleeve:
- Fold the sleeve along the score lines to create the drink holder shape.
- Use strong adhesive or double-sided tape to secure the edges.
- Attach Oscar statuette cutouts along with the mini stars.
- Wrap the sleeve around a bottle to check the fit and adjust if needed.
Additional tips:
- You can personalize each sleeve with guest names or a category award (e.g., “Best Dressed,” “Best Movie Buff”).
- Add gold foil accents for an extra luxurious touch.
- I hot-glued strips of red or gold ribbon on the bottle of each statue for a little razzle dazzle!

- Print on gold cardstock or thick paper for durability.
- Cut out the sleeve shape and wrap it around the cup.
- Secure it with double-sided tape or glue.

Now it’s time to roll out the red carpet, print this year’s ballot nominations and bingo game, grab all your snacks, and get ready to watch your favorite movie or actor win big tomorrow night!
And even if you’re watching it for fun, an Oscars watch party is just a fun excuse to host a party and spend time with the people you love.
This black-and-gold theme can be used for various events, not just the Oscars. We’re thinking the Golden Globes, anniversary parties, black-tie events, and more!
Enjoy!
