Sleepy Girl Mocktail
A Sleepy Girl Mocktail is the stuff dreams are made of. Getting a good night’s sleep starts with winding down, and this version of the Sleepy Girl Mocktail checks all the boxes.
It begins with tart cherry juice and magnesium glycinate, but we also added caffeine-free red zinger tea, a prebiotic limeade soda, and agave syrup, so it feels more like a mocktail than a home remedy.
Our wellness drink is big on flavor and gets you in the mood to go nighty night with a mixture of ingredients that feel more like an alcohol-free aperitif made with love.
I tried creating a couple of versions of this viral bedtime mocktail, and the taste wasn’t anything to write home about.
So, I set out to make Sleepy Girl Mocktail taste like a lullaby that, in short order, whisks you off to La La Land and will help you get those much-needed zzz’s.
I replaced the standard sparkling water or seltzer with a soda and tea mixture, then steeped a red zinger hibiscus tea bag in cherry limeade prebiotic soda.
The tea blend contains hibiscus and mint, natural and aromatic herbs that promote muscle relaxation and sleep.

Here’s What You Will Need
Tart Cherry Juice. Tart Cherry Juice can help you feel more relaxed; after all, it contains tryptophan—which is responsible for producing melatonin and serotonin. Melatonin regulates our sleep-wake cycle. Meanwhile, serotonin manages appetite, sleep, mood, and pain.
Magnesium Glycinate. I’ll say this: Magnesium Glycinate helps put you in the mood for sleep by allowing you to relax. We used this one, and the flavor was so good. Mixed Berry Lemonade. *Note: A daily magnesium glycinate regimen for at least three months is recommended for best results.
Caffeine-free Red Zinger Tea. This tea blend contains melatonin derived from hibiscus and wild cherry bark. The rosehips are high in two significant compounds: GABA and theanine. GABA contains sleeping-inducing compounds, and peppermint has amino acids that help you relax. Plus, this is a caffeine-free tea which won’t stimulate your metabolism.
Prebiotic Soda. A typical Sleep Girl Mocktail has sparking water, tonic, or seltzer. We used Poopi Cherry Limeade, which adds more cherry and lime flavor, and the prebiotic promotes gut health. It’s a win-win!
Agave Syrup. I like adding a bit of agave to sweeten the deal. Plus, organic agave is low on the hypoglycemic index, which means less sugar, and that’s a good thing!

The Benefits of Drinking A Sleepy Girl Wellness Drink:
Encourages Restful Sleep: Tart cherry juice, a natural source of melatonin, aids in regulating sleep-wake cycles. This can be particularly helpful for women in perimenopause who often experience sleep disruptions. Consuming tart cherry juice before bedtime may encourage a more restful sleep.
Packed with Antioxidants: Both tart cherry juice and Red Zinger tea, which typically contains hibiscus, are rich in antioxidants. These can help combat oxidative stress and inflammation, which are common concerns during perimenopause. Incorporating these beverages into your diet may help support overall health.
Rich in Magnesium: The inclusion of magnesium glycinate powder is crucial. Magnesium is known to have a calming effect on the nervous system, which can improve sleep quality. Additionally, it’s essential for bone health, which is a critical consideration during perimenopause due to the risk of osteoporosis.
Keeps You Hydrated: Maintaining adequate hydration is essential for good health. This mocktail, made with natural juices and soda, can contribute to your daily fluid intake, helping you stay hydrated and energized.
Caffeine-Free Option: This mocktail uses a caffeine-free Red Zinger tea bag, which avoids caffeine, which can worsen sleep problems and anxiety, common issues during perimenopause. This makes it a perfect option for those who are sensitive to caffeine.
Supports Digestive Health: The cherry limeade prebiotic soda can promote digestive health. Prebiotics are food for beneficial gut bacteria and play a vital role in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome.
Natural Sweetness: Agave syrup provides natural sweetness without refined sugars, which can cause blood sugar spikes and crashes. Consuming less processed sugar is key to maintaining stable blood sugar levels.
Lifts Your Mood: Preparing and enjoying a wellness-crafted beverage can have a positive psychological effect as a form of self-care and relaxation. This mocktail can boost mood, making it an excellent addition to your self-care routine.
If you happen to be experiencing perimenopause or menopause, this wellness beverage is worth considering if you have difficulty sleeping. I know I am currently in my perimenopause of life, and lately, this mocktail has been a hit or miss.
