This Maple Bourbon Sour is the perfect holiday cocktail. It’s easy to make and so yummy.
It is ideal as an evening drink or for entertaining guests.
Maple Bourbon Sour
Ya’ll! We’ve got the perfect winter cocktail.
You could also say it’s a great holiday drink, but only because it is. No cap!
This little number stays true to a classic whiskey sour scorecard.
There’s the bourbon whiskey base and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
But here’s where it gets interesting—there’s pure maple syrup.
The maple syrup adds toffee and warm vanilla notes instead of the classic simple syrup.
Here’s What You Will Need
Bourbon Whiskey. Listen. You don’t have to reach for the most expensive bottle of whiskey sours. Grab something mid-range, and you’ll be okay. For this recipe, shy away from fiery expressions and settle into pours complimenting the pure maple syrup. My recommendations include Marker’s Mark 46, Jefferson’s Reserve, Basil Hayden, and Elijah Craig Small Batch.
Lemon Juice. Getting the sour component of this cocktail right is part of why it works. I prefer freshly squeezed lemon juice. If you can find some, grab a Meyer lemon; it’s a bit sweeter than a standard lemon and adds complexity to the drink.
Pure Maple Syrup. When it comes to maple syrup, you’ll want 100% pure maple syrup, or try a bourbon-infused maple syrup.
Why I like this cocktail
Well, it doesn’t have a lot of ingredients.
There’s bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and lemon-lime soda.
And, of course, there is ice.
It’s sweet and sour in all the right places
And although it’s sweet, it’s not overly sweet.
The maple syrup adds a subtle, unique flavor.
And like any good whiskey sour, this one is well-balanced.
