Alternative Uses for Glad Press’n Seal + Why Every DIYer Needs To Use It

Alternative Uses for Glad Press’n Seal + Why Every DIYer Needs To Use It

I consider myself a part-timer DIYer. I like to dabble in trying my hand at a variety of crafts, especially if they are easy.

Regardless of my skill set, being a DIYer requires a lot of stuff. You have paints, brushes, rolls, and rolls of vinyl, stickers, glue, buttons, yarn, and the list goes on and on. As I enter in 2019, I’m trying to get my life together. 

I don’t have a dedicated craft room or space in my house to do crafty things, so I use a cart. 

When I started to reorganize my cart, I realized something. I needed a solution to keep liquid (oils and water) from spilling. I also noticed that some of my paints and glue products dried out due to a loose seal.

Using Glad Press’n Seal in the Craft room

Enter Glad® Press’n Seal®. We’re all familiar with this product. We’ve used it for years in the kitchen to cover up our food, but this stuff works beyond the kitchen. So, I tried it. I covered a jar of my paint water with Glad Press’n Seal (it seals 10X tighter than plastic wrap). I loved how it transitioned smoothly from the package to the jar. With the Griptex technology, this allows Glad Press’n Seal to adhere to plastic, paper, wood, metal, glass and more. I flipped the jar around; no water came out. Winner! 

I was happy to find a solution that works. Since I can start a project one day and finish it several days later, it was important to have a way to keep my paint fresh. Using Glad Press’n Seal product picked up from Walmart, I don’t have to worry about my glue products and paints drying out. 

Since I like to leave my brushes soaking, I can cover up the jar with Glad Press’n Seal, then poke a small hole for the brushes. This works perfectly without the brushes drying out.

I lay my brushes on top of a piece of Glad Press’n Seal. Then I cover the brushes with another piece of Glad Press’n Seal. 

See? They stay in place and don’t move!

DIY Cart Organization

1. Remove everything from your cart. 
2. Sort through all of your craft items. This is a great time to make some craft goals you want to accomplish this year. 
3. Get rid of everything you no longer use and items you have not used in over a year.
4. Group the same items together. This is probably when you’ll notice you have four cans of the same color spray paint. Get rid of cans with a little paint left in them. 
5. Place the items you plan to keep in storage containers. I used mason jars to hold my paintbrushes, markers, and special pens.
6. On the bottom of my cart, I added all of my vinyl. Since I do use a lot of vinyl, I have another basket full of vinyl products that I keep on my desk. I also added my box of Glad Press’n Seal. This will be helpful to have nearby when I need it. 

When it comes to organizing my craft space, it boils down to everything having a place. 

My sponges are safely tucked in a jar, sealed with Glad Press’n Seal. I don’t have to worry about them drying out! And even though my Mod Podge has a lid, I still sealed it back with Glad Press’n Seal to guarantee it won’t dry out.

Alternative uses to Glad Press’n Seal

The cool thing about this product is that it goes beyond food storage use. Because it can easily wrap odd-shaped items and adhere to many different surfaces, including itself, you can use Glad Press’n Seal anywhere. 

1. Road tripping soon? Take Glad Press’n Seal to keep your snacks fresh. You can even use it to create a snack bag for your snacks. 
2. Keep your jewelry detangled and organized with this product. 
3. If you use Polymer Clay, Glad Press’n Seal is the product you need.
4. While I was working on this project, Derrick was doing some painting in the upstairs bathroom. We used Glad Press’n Seal to cover the paintbrushes and rollers. 
5. It also works well on covering up the paint tray.
6. An instant cap for your drink. I like to take mason jars of water with me in the car. To avoid spilling, I can cover the lid with Glad Press’n Seal. 
7. This is also a great product to use to avoid freezer burns on ice-cream and extending the life of our ice-cream. 
8. Traveling? Glad Press’n Seal works great to cover up your lotion, body wash, and other products so they don’t spill all over your clothes. 
9. Use it to laminate recipes. I tear out pages of recipes from magazines all the time. Instead of having those pages easily rip apart, I can cover them in Glad Press’n Seal, preserving them to use over and over again. 
10. Keep your silverware clean and organized with Glad Press’n Seal. 
11. When I run out of lunch bags for school lunches, I can wrap my kids’ sandwiches and snacks with Glad Press’n Seal. 
12. Going to the beach or out on a rainy day? Cover your phone and electronics with Glad Press’n Seal to keep them dry. This also works well on laptops. If you’re taking your laptop to a damp area, cover it up first with Glad Press’n Seal to protect it from getting wet.
13. If you use a tablet in the kitchen while cooking, cover it up with Glad Press’n Seal so it doesn’t get splatters of food all over it (guilty).
14. Line your pantry and fridge shelves with Glad Press’n Seal. When you’re ready to clean these areas out, just remove the lining and replace it with a fresh one.

I love it when I can find a product that will work in more than one area of my life. Glad Press’n Seal is worth buying since you can get so many uses out of it. You can find it at your local Walmart, available in 70 sq ft or 100 sq ft rolls.
