Overnight Oats + Berry Yogurt
Y’all didn’t know I am a sucka for oats did ya’? Well, it’s truer than true. No lie. Ever since my mama fed me oatmeal when I was a shorty I have had a weakness for oats. For me, oats are the ultimate comfort food, and I like them hot or cold with honey, maple syrup, brown sugar or agave! I also love how crazy versatile oats are, pile on fruits like bananas, raspberries or blueberries or sprinkle them with a touch of cinnamon or shredded coconut. Have you tried swirling peanut butter or Nutella into your oatmeal! Makes me weak in the knees just thinking about it!
Anyway, without further ado, I present (drum roll please) to you and yours, my Overnight Oats + Berry Yogurt. This recipe calls for clove honey (or blue agave), plain pourable yogurt, quick vegan oats, cashew butter, a pinch of nutmeg, and berries galore! Prepare the ingredients before you hit the sack and when you get up in the morning breakfast is served! Definitely a new favorite around here and so easy to make.
Here’s what you need to pull off this oatlicious treat:
How to make Overnight Oats + Berry Yogurt
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 pourable yogurt
- 2 tbsp almond/cashew milk
- 3/4 tbsp raw sugar or preferred sweetener
Toppings:
- raspberries
- blueberries
- banana slices
- granola (I used chocolate hazelnut granola)
- drizzled lavender honey
- flax seeds
- chia seeds
- peanut butter or any nut butter for that matter
Directions:
1. In individual small Mason jars add the following to each jar 1/2 cup pourable yogurt, 3/4 tablespoon raw sugar, and two tablespoons of almond or cashew milk. Stir the ingredients together then add the oats and mix a bit more.
Pro-tip: Make doubly sure all oats are submerged in the yogurt and almond milk mixture, leave no oats unsoaked.
2. Screw on a lid, or cover with some other means, like plastic wrap, foil. You want a tight fit, so the moisture doesn’t escape.
3. In the morning, hopefully, 6, 7, or 8 hours later, remove the lid and dig in! Or may I suggest toppings? I used fresh raspberries, blueberries, and slices of banana. I also tossed on some chocolate hazelnut granola, flax and chia seeds, and drizzled this sucker with a line or two of honey. And done! Enjoy.
