Jekyll Island Club Hotel {Historic Hotel}
Jekyll Island Club Hotel has 128 years of rich history to its name. It’s home to comfort as well as romance and laughter. Guests can enjoy grand dining experiences as well as the opportunity to partake in beach picnics should the mood strike. The Club Hotel is ideal for families as well as for couples and even business events. Whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, the Jekyll Island Club Hotel is a place where you can achieve maximum comfort and relaxation. Located on the grounds by the river, the hotel is known as the centerpiece of Jekyll Island’s famous historical district.
Traveling alone or with loved ones? Jekyll Island Club Hotel has accommodations that meet the needs for every party of visitors. The hotel is home to 157 rooms and suites. Each room reflects the hotel’s unique historical settings. These accommodations range from single occupant guest rooms to deluxe suites with multiple rooms. There’s even a presidential suite, if available at the time of reservation. The Annex, Sans Souci, Crane Cottage and Cherokee are all available sections of the resort in which guests can reserve available lodging.

We stayed in the Sans Souci building. When we first walked into our deluxe king suite, it opened up to a flight of stairs. After the boys quickly flew up the stairs, I could hear them saying things like, “Oh wow, this looks cool!”
After walking up a short flight of stairs, our room opened up to a king size bed, with a gigantic bathroom, and second bedroom. Our room also had a couch with a pull-out bed, and tons of small little spaces for Zayd’n to hide with his iPad. You can learn about this particular room here.
You can find more rooms and photos here. {unfortunately my photos didn’t turn out to share here on the blog}
They have an outdoor swimming pool, which Zayd’n was determined to swim in it, rain or shine. You can also stroll along to the back of the hotel and find little buildings filled with things to buy. We stopped in The Commissary and picked up a few snacks and fruit butter! Their Peach Fruit Butter is fantastic!
If you’re looking for a fine dining experience while on vacation at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, then you’re in luck. The hotel has several dining options as well. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed dining experience, refined or light, the trio of restaurants at the hotel will have something for every palette. The Grand Dining Room, Courtyard at Crane, and Club Cafe are all excellent choices when it comes to your dining experience. On our first morning there, we opted for breakfast at The Grand Dining Room. The prices were reasonable, and every child found something on the menu (score!).
Another restaurant on the Island I have to share is a pizza joint. When traveling with kids, we all know they will eat pizza. We tried Red Bug Motors Pizza. They will deliver right to your room, which was great since it was pouring down with rain. We ordered pizza for the boys, and Derrick and I ordered room service from The Grand Dining Room.
Derrick ordered their Shrimp & Grits {“multi-award winning” Georgia white shrimp & stone milled yellow grits garlic, scallions & andouille sausage}. I had a Grilled 7 oz Filet Mignon {herb Boursin cheese, caramelized shallots, roasted garlic whipped potatoes truffle bordelaise}. We both enjoyed our meals, all five of us went to bed on satisfied stomachs.
