If you are lucky enough to have an actual pantry, you know that it can quickly become chaotic. This is especially true if your pantry holds more than it can take, like mine does. I know as a couponer, I like to stockpile items.
So it’s really important that I keep some type of organizational system going in my pantry.
Plus this helps me know what times I need to use quickly, toss out, etc. In order to help you clean up the chaos, here are some cleaning and organizing tips for your pantry.
Awesome Cleaning and Organizing Tips for the Pantry
Get rid of the trash. The first step to organizing and cleaning the pantry is to eliminate any trash there. You may not even be aware that you have empty boxes, wrapping from packages, or expired foods. At least every 6 months or so, clean out the pantry to get rid of the clutter in there. Be sure to do a full sweep and even mop!
Install shower rods. Shower rods are amazing when used in the pantry. You can hang rolls of paper towels and garbage bags on them, hang cleaning supplies, and even use them to hang your reusable shopping bags.
Make a trip to the dollar store. You can get all sorts of baskets, containers, and jars at the dollar store to help organize your pantry. Put things like rice, beans, and cereal in clear containers so you know when you are running low. Use small desk drawer organizing baskets as a hanging basket with just a few nails for things like vitamins, spice jars, and more.
Use plenty of baskets. One thing that can lead to a big mess in pantries is not enough space to put mismatched and bulky items. Using baskets can help corral some of this mess and make it easier to store.
Label everything. Labels work amazingly well in pantries. You can get rid of all packaging your food comes from by sticking it in labeled containers. This saves space and makes things look neat and organized. As an added bonus, it also keeps pests out.
Consider a mini-fridge. You can keep on the floor of your pantry for all those drinks you buy in bulk at warehouse clubs while still leaving room in your fridge. No more warm drinks in the pantry!
Make yourself a spreadsheet. Now that you have everything organized, make sure you keep a spreadsheet on your pantry door to help you keep on track with your stock. This helps you avoid buying too many of one thing, and it helps you know what you are running low on.
