5 Secret Things I Bet You Didn’t Know About Disneyland
Walt Disney had an apartment above the Fire Department on Main Street. When Disneyland was built, Walt made sure that he could actually come stay in the park. That included a full apartment with room for his wife and children above the Fire Department on Main Street. While you can no longer go up and see the apartment, it is fun to look upstairs and see if there happens to be someone in the window. You never know who might be staying there as a guest.
You can sit on the bench Walt Disney sat on the day he came up with the concept of Disneyland. Inside the building where you can watch Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln, you will also find the very park bench that Walt Disney was sitting on when the idea for Disneyland came to mind.
You can ride the front compartment of the Monorail. The front of the monorail houses the driver, but also room for up to 4 people. You have to ask in advance and there is often a wait to ride, but it is the best view of the park from above. You’ll be able to see everything clearly as the monorail goes the 2 mile course that goes around the adjacent hotels and even over parts of California Adventure.
You can get a death certificate at The Haunted Mansion. When you enter The Haunted Mansion, you can ask the cast member there for a death certificate. This is a fun way to document your trip, and just a cool treat for kids who make it through the fun haunted ride.
Spend a quarter to hear a classic automatic band in Main Street Station. Inside the station, there is a corner unit on the right hand side of the building. This large wooden case that looks like a dresser with some odd gears in a glass case on top is actually an automatic band. It was a radio of sorts to play great music. For one quarter you can listen to a minute of great big band music.
These secret things in Disneyland are all fun to watch for as you travel and spend time there with your family!
