5 Reasons To Collect Box Tops
This school year I made a promise to be more involved at the boys’ school. One way I plan to contribute is by clipping Box Tops. Now, I have been clipping Box Tops for years and faithfully send them to school with one of the boys’.
But could I collect more?
Yes, yes I could.
But how?
Well, I have two options.
First, I can ask my friends and family members that purchase General Mills® products to save their Box Tops for me. This may require a little work on my part since I will have to drive around to collect them. But, it’s for the kids, right?
Second, I can collect more Box Tops by continuing to purchases products with the Box Tops labels. However, I just recently found out General Mills® has bonus Box Tops on select products. So, instead of just collecting one Box Tops per item, I am able to collect 5 Box Tops on one product.
With school back in session, I decided to stop by my local Walmart to pick up snack and dinner items.
While shopping, I was able to find several items with the 5 Box Tops Bonus labels. And since Granola Bars was on my list, this was a double bonus!
I was able to find the Granola Bars in the same aisle as the General Mills® cereal and fruit snacks (also with the 5 Box Tops labels!)
On my way towards the checkout, I grabbed a few packs of tortillas (found on an end cap). We like to make our own tortilla chips, as well Fajita and Taco Tuesday dinner nights.
And guess what else I discovered? More Bonus Box Tops on the Old El Paso Tortilla products! Oh, I am winning today!
I love checking out through self-scan; so easy and no waiting in a line! And with the everyday low prices at Walmart, I was able to get my purchases at a good price!
Collecting Box Tops is really important to my family. Here’s why:
- It’s a way our family can contribute to the boys’ school, and it doesn’t cost us anything extra.
- I am able to find Box Tops on products we purchase and use all the time.
- Each Box Top is worth .10 cents!
- Schools are able to use the cash from the Box Tops on items they NEED.
- It’s a great way to start teaching your children about ways to give back to their schools and communities.
The Box Tops program is in over 80,000 schools and by far the largest school earnings loyalty program. Since its inception in 1996, Box Tops for Education has contributed over $525 million dollars to participating schools!
Now, THAT is awesome!
Do you collect Box Tops? Can you recall how many you have collected?
I cannot remember how many I have collected since Day 1, but I am positive the magic number is over 1000.
I want to do better this year with ways I can give back to my boys’ school. Collecting Box Tops from General Mills® products, especially the Bonus Box Tops will help, but I am going to be soliciting the help from my friends and family as well!
Do you have a goal set in mind of how many Box Tops you plan to collect this school year? Or maybe a set amount of money?
If so, leave me a comment below! I would love to hear what you have to say!

As a teacher, I can attest to the awesomeness of the Box Top Program. Our school has received so many resources by pooling together as a community to collect box tops from some great brands.
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
We always collect them. At our school they have a contest to see which class can collect the most and the winner get a kickball game against the principal.
