Let’s get ready to celebrate the Fourth with this party idea!
I’m sharing a 4th of July party idea, which includes a patriotic balloon garland, and a red, white, and blue sweets table!
Read on to see how you can put this patriotic party together to celebrate the Fourth of July this weekend.
Celebrate 4th of July Party Idea
Growing up, celebrating the 4th of July meant going to the parade, eating good food, and hanging out with our family. The summers we were in Columbus, Ohio, spending time with our Grandma, we went to the Red White and Boom show.
From the food, music, and spectacular fireworks, I always looked forward to this event.
As the year passed by, the 4th of July took on a new meaning.
When my Grandma passed away on July 4, 1997, the purpose of celebrating dampened. It wasn’t the same.
Over the years, my 4th of July holiday transitioned into taking our boys to the fireworks show and having a cookout with family.
For many people in the Black community, the 4th of July is seen as a time to get together with loved ones, while dishing up delicious food. July 4, 1776, was the day Independence was declared.
And while it was a celebration of freedom, for African-Americans, it was just another day.
It wasn’t until June 19, 1865, the day when all slaves got the news that they were free (after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed into law on January 1, 1863) that they could celebrate. And that is why we also celebrate Juneteenth.
I’m sure you didn’t come for a history lesson, but it was important for me to share this information.
Our family celebrates both holidays, including hosting our first annual Juneteenth party a few weeks ago.
Plus, we’re always up for hosting a party!
4th of July Decorations
Let’s break down this 4th of July Party Idea! No party, especially a red, white, and blue party, goes down without the appropriate decorations and themed foods.
Red, White, and Blue Balloon Garland
One way you can bring instant pop and pizzaz to your party is to create a balloon garland. Balloon garlands are tedious to put together, but the outcome is FAB!
I picked up a pack of 12′ red, white, and blue balloons from Party City. I also found red and blue star balloons from last year’s Fourth of July party.
I recommend using a pump to fill the balloons quickly.
