23+ KitchenAid Hacks You MUST Try
If you own a Kitchen-Aid mixer, chances are you already know how amazing it is. I have owned a beautiful red mixer for several years and absolutely LOVE it!
We upgraded to a Kitchen-Aid Copper Professional Bowl Lift Stand Mixer a few years ago and still love Kitchen-Aid products.
After all, this kitchen appliance can help you make just about any recipe in less time, with amazing results.
Plus, they last for what seems like forever, so you know you are getting your money’s worth from it.
But what if you stretch your KitchenAid stand mixer to do more?
Then look below at these KitchenAid Hacks you MUST try to get the most out of your mixer. Here is what you need to know.
KitchenAid Mixer Hacks
1. Try pulling pork. Who says that mixers are just for cakes, muffins, and desserts?
Put your prepared pork for pulled pork sandwiches into the mixer and let the dough hook attachment do the pulling.
No messy hands to deal with and no sauce-stained sleeves.
2. Make an easy chicken salad. Place your baked/boneless chicken into your mixer and let the dough hook shred the chicken for you, which is perfect for chicken casseroles and, of course, chicken salad.
No messy hands and no waiting for the chicken to cool first.
How to shred chicken in your Kitchen-Aid mixer:
- I shredded a pound of cooked chicken breast straight from the slow cooker in under 30 seconds. Take your meat straight from cooking and toss it in the mixing bowl.
- Make sure the beater attachment is in place.
- Raise the mixer bowl and hit a low power setting for about 30 seconds.
- Enjoy your shredded meat.
3. Make perfect meatloaf. Use the dough hook along with your meatloaf mixture.
It will mix the ingredients perfectly, and you don’t have to find yourself elbow-deep in raw meat or ground beef, onions, breadcrumbs, and other less-than-fun-to-touch meatloaf ingredients.
4. Make your own splash guard. Cut a hole into a plastic lid that fits the top of your mixing bowl.
Place the lid on the stainless steel bowl and lower the mixing extension through the hole to the ingredients.
The lid will help keep splatter under control easily and effectively! {If you don’t want to make one, you can order a splash guard for your Kitchen-Aid mixer!}
5. Make it glide with ease. Keep a soft cloth or kitchen towel under the mixer to easily slide it across the kitchen counters without knocking it over or causing spills.
6. Give it some personality. Use craft decals found at most craft stores to dress up your mixer.
You can use all sorts of peel-and-stick shapes, designs, colors, words, etc.
Be creative and give your mixer some personality!
7. Make play-dough. Use your mixer to make children’s play dough recipes.
This way, your hands never have to touch the glitter or food coloring that is often involved and can make quite a mess.
8. Utilize the wire whip. Utilize the wire whip (also known as the whisk attachment) for those tasks that make your wrists ache.
Tasks include whipping eggs, egg whites, and, of course, frosting recipes.
The mixer will do the job with a light touch, and no sore wrists are required. See how to use all of your Kitchen Aid beaters!
9. Mix up DIY beauty products. You will find many homemade body scrub and body butter recipes online.
Your mixer is perfect for getting well-mixed and fluffy results that are spa-worthy!

10. Replace the ice cream maker. If you have an ice cream maker, you know they are bulky and may not be used much.
You can use your mixer just as you do an ice cream maker, and it can just as easily and quickly mix the ingredients for smooth ice cream and tasty sorbet. [Get the Ice-Cream maker attachment here.]
11. Get creative with mashed vegetables. Trying to lay off the carbs? Use your mixer to make more than mashed potatoes.
Try mashed cauliflower, mashed peas, or mashed sweet potatoes for a tasty and healthier alternative.
12. Use it for crafting. Your mixer can be used for all sorts of crafting projects. Use food-safe products when crafting and using your mixer.
Just be sure to thoroughly wash your bowls and attachments, and wash them immediately so none of the products stick, stain, or damage the device.
13. Make your pet food/treats. Your mixer can mix chicken, vegetables, and other natural ingredients perfect for whipping into your dog food and treats.
Add some baked chicken to rice, peas, and carrots for the perfect, healthy treat for your dog that is easy to chew and enjoy.
14. Make homemade marshmallows. Find a fun recipe for marshmallows online and use your mixer to get the job done.
It will whip the ingredients into the perfect, fluffy finish!
15. Make your butter. You can make all sorts of flavored butter with your mixer and just a few basic ingredients. We typically use our food processor to make our herb butter, but the mixer works fine if you don’t have one.
Search out a recipe for herb butter or another flavored butter online and use your mixer to make it come to life.

20. Mix salads. Salads of all kinds can be mixed in your Kitchen-Aid Mixer. The trick is setting your mixer on the lowest, slowest setting.
It will gently toss the ingredients freeing your hands up for other meal prep tasks. Some ideal salads your Kitchen Aid mixer can help with include pasta salads, corn salads, tomato salads, bean salads, and even fresh green salads.
21. Make your seasonings. You can make your seasonings and save so much cash.
Use your mixer to make infused salts, seasoning salts, taco seasoning, and other seasoning recipes. This way, the dry ingredients get mixed evenly without exhausting stirring.
22. Make the salt dough. Salt dough is a fun craft for kids to make, and it can be used to make handprint decorations, holiday ornaments, and so much more.
You can make the salt dough using simple ingredients you most likely have on hand, and your Kitchen-Aid mixer can do all of the heavy work for you! Head to the internet to find the perfect salt dough recipe and let your mixer get to work.

Additional KitchenAid mixer hacks:
- Stick a command hook on the back side of your mixer to keep the cord hidden and out of the way. You can also use a cord organizer like this one.
- Use a shower cap to cover the mixer bowl to prevent dust from collecting in your stand mixer. This cloth bowl cover works well, too, for a Kitchenaid mixer.
- To save space, store your Kitchenaid attachments in your bowl.
- Use a dish towel under your mixer to keep it from moving. You can also purchase a sliding mat designed specifically for a stand mixer.

I’m 76 years old and on my 4th Kitchen Aid…needless to say it is used on a regular basis in my kitchen and I couldn’t live without it. The best gift I ever received was the large glass mixing bowl attachment that my son bought me for Christmas one year. I can now prepare larger quantities of everything.
