-Are you looking for a resort near Orlando? Check out my hotel review for Mission Inn Resort + Club. A beautiful property located near Orlando and Disney.
With an abundance of warm weather, sunshine, and beautiful beaches, it’s no wonder so many people choose to vacation in Florida. In addition to sunny skies almost all year round, there are also a wide variety of attractions and theme parks to visit during your stay. Orlando is the ideal place for making memories with loved ones, especially when you factor in its natural springs, being home to Disney World, and an extensive list of famous eateries.
Zayd’n and I recently took a Mom/Son trip to Orlando in the KIA Sportage, and we had a blast. We spent the majority of our time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There was so much to see and do, it was impossible to fit it all into our trip, but we enjoyed our time there.
One of our favorite things we were able to do, besides all the sightseeing, was staying at the Mission Inn Resort + Club, located in Howey In The Hills, Florida.
The Mission Inn Resort + Club is located just near enough to Orlando to be convenient (about 2o minutes), but also far enough away that you aren’t smack dab in the middle of the chaos surrounding the city. You can spend the day sightseeing, but if you’re looking for peace after a busy day out, the Mission Inn Resort + Club is the perfect place to rest up and recuperate.
When we first arrived on the property, I immediately fell in love with how beautiful it was. Kudos to the groundskeeper for keeping this property Instagram worthy!
See what I mean?
Ideal for guests who enjoy golfing together or solo, the resort is also a great option if you’re looking for a romantic couples getaway or family retreat. Additionally, there’s also a spa located at the resort that makes it a wonderful place to visit if you need a spa weekend with your closest girlfriends. This resort is surrounded by beautiful landscaping, is home to 2 premier golf courses and four different restaurants. The best part is that the resort is situated just minutes away from Orlando, so you can enjoy the quietness of the grounds or take a car over for sightseeing/visiting the attractions.
In addition to several different hiking trails that are available for nature enthusiasts, there are also many pools available for guests to take advantage of when the day heats up and courts for both tennis and volleyball, if you’re into sports or just curious to try your hand. Visitors can also give trap and skeet shooting a shot while staying at the resort, which is a popular past time of previous guests.
You can also try your hand at a game of chess!
Overall, we very much enjoyed staying at the Mission Inn Resort. It was peaceful but had many options to choose from to keep us busy when we weren’t taking in the sights around Orlando. The room we stayed in was wonderful and very comfortable; however, the furniture was a bit of an older style that could have used a bit of updating but otherwise had a charming feel that I enjoyed.
Mornings were also great, as the resort is located far enough away from the city that you aren’t awoken by traffic sounds or loud music/noises. They also put on a delicious breakfast buffet that Zady’n and I enjoyed during our stay. There’s no better way to get ready for a busy day than to venture to a buffet that provides all of your favorites and load up to keep you full and energized the entire day through!
The best part about staying at Mission Inn Resort was discovering a crocodile. When we first arrived, I stopped near the entrance to take a few photos. I saw a small crocodile chilling near the water. I thought for sure it was fake. I yelled for Zayd’n to hop out the KIA Sportage. We both decided it was fake. However, when we left later on that afternoon to head to Disney, the croc was gone. OMG, it was real! It’s a good thing I didn’t go down near the water to see for myself (lol).
Yes, I know Florida has crocs everywhere. But to see one that closeup, in its natural habitat, was pretty cool. That’s one perk I think that’s cool about staying here. I was told later on several crocodiles had been sighted around the property. You mind your business, they mind their business.

Mission Inn Resort + Club is located in Howey In The Hills, Florida. This is a small town of just about 1000 people. If you plan your vacation here, be sure to stop by Yalaha Bakery for some delicious assortment of treats. They are known worldwide as an original German bakery in Central Florida specializing in Old World bread, cakes, and pastries traditionally handcrafted and made only with the best all-natural and organic ingredients.
Mission Inn Resort + Club is also a short drive from Mount Dora. This is a quaint little town filled with shops and restaurants.
I’ve driven the 2017 KIA Sportage twice now, and love this little sporty, compact-like SUV. With 25.8 MPG, I was able to drive all over Orlando without filling up. (On our last day, on the way to the airport, I put in about $15 bucks, which got me back to 3/4 of a tank!). The cooling seats came in handy with Orlando’s hot and muggy weather. I also loved the Panoramic Sunroof with the power shade. And with all of our bags, the smart power liftgate came in handy!
You can find more information on the Kia Sportage and other models by going to their website.
